Maryland ––(Ammoland.com)- How to Participate: Join us at Lawyers’ Mall, located at College Ave. & Bladen St. (Rowe Blvd. extended), Annapolis.

We will be gathering in the General Assembly’s backyard so we can be heard. MSI is arranging to have leaders and friends of the 2A community speak at the Rally.

Afterwards we will disperse around Annapolis to enjoy the fine restaurants and shopping. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the day. Wear MSI Blue so everyone knows you are part of the Rally.

Get MSI merchandise at the MSI web site, https://www.marylandshallissue.org.

Purpose: To have a large, completely peaceful and unarmed gathering of supporters of Maryland “Shall Issue” and 2nd Amendment rights. We will be wearing empty holsters in protest of the current “Discretionary Issue” system that sees Handgun Carry Permits issued only to those politically connected or dealing in extraordinarily large amounts of physical cash, or the occasional person who can meet the high burden of proof needed to receive one for self defense.

Basic Safety Rules: All holsters must remain empty at all times. Do not put toy guns, training guns or the like in your holster. We want to emphasize the emptiness of the holsters and our lack of protection. The holster will simply be a fashion accessory, symbolizing our vulnerability to criminals.

PLAN TO JOIN US AND BRING YOUR FAMILY!

Mission Statement: Maryland Shall Issue is an all volunteer, non-partisan effort dedicated to the preservation and advancement of all gunowners’ rights in Maryland, with a primary goal of CCW reform to allow all law-abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon; and to the education of the community to the awareness that ‘shall issue’ laws have, in all cases, resulted in decreased rates of violent crime.

For those saying it's a "white dude" operation; we had several black men attend, including Charles Lollar. One of the speakers and several of the guests were females. It is not a "white dude" operation. Also, MLK day is significant. Dr. King applied for and was denied a handgun permit, Dr. King fought for the most basic rights of humanity, and as MSI fights for the right to protect it's most basic rights. It's interesting that the only people who really complain about the rally being on MLK day are "supporters." Did you attend the rally? Hardly seems right to… Read more »

First of all, that was the date that was assigned to us BY the (very liberal) State of Maryland. We didn't PICK MLK Day. Any idiot can see that it was the state's way of saying "Let's try to make these people look bad". Just short of 100 people stood in 34 degree temps to "do what we could". I was one of them. Second… RE: the Ghandi remark.. Would you suggest that we open carry – illegally – "just to prove a point", and then be arrested for a FELONY? Then, when we DO get "Shall Issue" passed in… Read more »

I know that people living in Free States look at this with derision because their states are not run as if ignorance is your only civil right. While it is a somewhat empty gesture it at least gives us a chance to gather and vent. Many of our empty holster activities are more outreach. We sometimes gather in public areas and when people "Ask us about our Empty Holsters"( as invited on our shirts) we can give them informational materials as well as personal invitations and information about our issues. It truely is sad that we have to but in… Read more »

It may interest you to know that the Maryland Second Amendment Sisters co-coordinator is a lovely African American lady, so please don't suggest this is a "total white dude operation." All of have the basic civil right to defend ourselves guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, and this rally demonstrates how Maryland thumbs its nose at we the people and our rights.

If one curious person checks it out and realizes that disarming ourselves has never and will never protect us from armed criminals who will always find a source on the black market, then it will be a success.

The issue is whether the public would be more pleased having these Holsters remain empty. Or would most people feel safer with these guys toting firearms? Generally a bad image , intimidation of people ..many of whom are afraid of firearms.

I would counsel good printed and on line materials plus visits to the legislators to argue their case. They have a valid point. It is very hard to get a permit to carry a pistol in Md.

MLK is not a good day IMHO. Offensive actually and this is an total white dude operation

These guys are a bunch of Crackpots. Why hold a rally in the capital when it is a Holiday and everyone has off work? Holding a Gun rally on MLK Day? It's going to backfire on them.

How very "Ghandi-like".

Maryland needs a good kick in the ass, that's what. All those "discretionary" states do. A. Good. Kick. In. The. Ass.
