Is Ted Nugent Right?

Colorado ––(Ammoland.com)- Ted Nugent has made millions of dollars as an entertainer – what does he have to gain by putting his opinion on gun rights out for public ridicule?

I’m certainly glad he does speak up and passionately fight for gun rights. We need more like him.

I saw a clip this past week of Mr. Nugent — who also serves as an NRA Board Member — duking it out with a left-wing political commentator on television. They were going back and forth about “gun free zones,” or what I refer to as Criminal Safezones. These areas have been made “gun free,” and thus safe for criminals, due to a federal or state law.

Nugent argued those areas are more susceptible to lawless thugs. Bravo!

But does Ted Nugent disagree with the NRA on the issue of eliminating Criminal Safezones?

Here at the National Association for Gun Rights, we are 100% for the elimination of ALL federal or state-mandated Criminal Safezones. There is no difference of opinion on that issue.

But just this week, I received some bad news from NAGR’s state-level allies in Iowa, Iowa Gun Owners. They alerted me to the case of a Republican elected official in their state who is working day and night to EXPAND Criminal Safezones. His name is Clel Baudler. He’s a Republican State Rep. from Western Iowa.

Here’s the worst part of the story…

Rep. Baudler is also a National Board Member of the NRA. In recent weeks, Rep. Baudler has inexplicably fought to EXPAND Criminal Safezones (by amending HF 2114) in Iowa.

And if that isn’t bad enough, I’ve been told by Iowa Gun Owners that Rep. Baudler has declared open war on a “Constitutional Carry” bill for Iowa, despite cries from gun owners in Iowa who demand it be passed.

Baudler responded to those gun owners by saying “Constitutional Carry” would arm “village idiots” and “county nitwits.”

I’ve even been alerted to reports of Rep. Baudler cursing out grassroots gun owners who visit him at the capitol in Des Moines asking him to support “Constitutional Carry.”

This is the type of political behavior that needs to be punished. Nugent’s words versus Rep. Baudler’s actions couldn’t stand in starker contrast.

These types of instances, where a politician “sells out” our gun rights, are exactly why the National Association for Gun Rights exists.

There is no disagreement here at NAGR over Criminal Safezones. They should be eliminated whenever possible. Politicians who support their expansion must be called out to as many gun owners as possible.

I know you may not care much at all about gun rights in Iowa, but I think it’s important you know that the largest gun group in the country has a board member who believes strongly in expanding locations where criminals can carry and you cannot.

For Freedom,
Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President

P.S. The National Association for Gun Rights is working day and night to keep gun owners like you up-to-date on all gun issues.

wow, so much going on there. I believe that a good way to present Nugent's argument is that he is for the "freedom to". In that Americans have the freedom to own firearms. In that way, we do not have the struggle from a government that would dominate it's own citizens in countries like Lybia, Egypt, Syria, the UK.
