Where Does Romney Stand Today on the Second Amendment?

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Gun Owners of America today sent an Open Letter to Gov. Mitt Romney, asking him – yet again – to submit his survey responses to GOA.

“We sent you a questionnaire not once, not twice but three times now,” said GOA Vice Chairman Tim Macy.

“What did you send back? A form letter stating you are pro-Second Amendment — with absolutely nothing to back up this laughable claim. As Governor, you were proudly anti-Second Amendment, but as you have with most issues, you have now changed your stripes to spots.”

GOA has posted a description of Romney’s Second Amendment record at: http://gunowners.org/mittromney-2012.htm

In this analysis, you will see his past support for all of Massachusetts’ strict gun control laws, including his support for semi-auto bans and waiting periods.

Mitt Romney said in a recent speech that he was “severely conservative” as Governor of Massachusetts. But if that’s true, then why is he steadfastly refusing to answer the Gun Owners of America questionnaire on Second Amendment issues?

GOA’s Tim Macy asks: “Do you want to clear up this possible misconception I (and most members of Gun Owners of America) have about you? If you do, then call me at (916) 984-1400. Even better, why don’t you fill out one of the THREE GOA questionnaires we’ve sent to you so that millions of American gun owners will know where you stand?”

GOA would ask its members to forward our open letter — which can be read at http://gunowners.org/open-letter-romney.htm — to Gov. Romney.

You may contact Mitt Romney at:

* Phone: (857) 288-3500

Please let us know of any response you get from Gov. Romney.
And be sure to forward the Open Letter to your friends and family

    1. Any candidate that shows any reluctance to clearly answer questions in a straight forward manner about the second amendment must be viewed as hostile to the second amendment. There is no other explanation. Any true pro-gun pro-second amendment candidate would be eager to answer a second amendment question in a way that demonstrates clear convictions.

    2. Where do you stand on the Second Ammendment, would be a good question on all of those running for President. Are they going to let us know before we vote? Voting would be easy if we knew. Against the Second Ammendment is against the very core of the United States of America.

    3. Candidate Romney may state that he is a severely conservative and that may be true. A conservative candidate is one that desires that the government not change but remain the same i.e. status quo. I do not want government to stay the same, but desire, make that demand that government CHANGE.

    4. To continue: I want the government to go backwards…toward the government that existed be for President Lincoln’s terms in office, i.e. a government that conducted itself as per the limits setforth in the Constitution of the United States. Limited government with limited “Interference” with one’s life. People need to take back control of our government. Romney as of yet, does not seem to be the constitutionalist candidate.

    5. A person from Mass. just got 3 years in jail for 8 bullets that were locked in a box under his bed,and he didn’t have any guns to fire them in. I won’t vote for Romney, his states actions speak enough about him.

    6. We had all better be very careful of who we put into office this time. There’s a lot more at stake than just getting rid of Obama.The desissons we make (or don’t make) this year will help to shape this country for many years to come.
