New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- Why? We will never be able to suppress the military-industrial complex.

In whatever justification gun ban proponents are willing to advocate, I counterpoint with five items that should be banned which are far more deadly than firearms, AND which are fervently lobbied for.

And not to discriminate, gun lobby dollars spent in 2008 were 1.3 million.

  • Manual Vacuum Aspirators, the CDC in 2008 stated these devices were responsible for 825,564 abortions. Pro-abortion or Pro-choice (semantically irrelevant-a spade is a spade-it is murder) lobbyists spent 3.3 million to aid the slaughter.
  • Tobacco, the CDC in 2008 stated tobacco killed 443,000. Lobby dollars 16.6 million.
  • Alcoholic Beverages, the CDC in 2009 stated alcoholic beverages accounted for over 100,000 deaths. Lobby dollars 7.9 million.
  • Prescription Drugs, according to the CDC/ARES (Adverse Events Reporting System) in 2010, prescription medications were responsible for 82,724 deaths. Lobby dollars 16.1 million.
  • Automobiles, according to the National Safety Council in 2008 39,800 deaths were attributed to automobiles. Approximately 6.2 million was spent lobbying on behalf of the auto industry according to the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. In 2009 on average, 93 people were killed on the roads EVERY DAY.

WHY do these items NOT seem deserving of the media attention with which gun violence is so fervently pursued and portrayed? Because they do not exhibit the sensationalism that the media craves.

Gun violence is terrible and loathsome. But as a gun owner, I take pride in being able to exercise my Constitutional RIGHTS in a SAFE and RESPONSIBLE manner.

However, I am affronted by the undisputed fact that the media does not play fairly in this arena. The items I think should be banned are just as horrific and tragic as the gun violence the media so easily and readily spectacles.

Banning guns will only work for the criminal. Now that concealed carry by law abiding citizens are the law of most of the land, criminals are coming up on the loosing end many times. Some states, like CA and NY still deny law abiding citizens the right to bare arms, in spite of the supreme court ruling. The criminal is never going to follow the law. That is why he is called a criminal. No, when there is a car pile up on some freeway 20 times a year and 15 people are killed in each, there is no cry… Read more »
