Cullerton To Introduce Near Total Gun Ban On January 2nd 2013.
Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton will introduce a so called “assault weapons” ban on Wednesday, January 2nd 2013, when the legislature returns for its “lame duck” session.
Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police.
Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called “assault weapons” but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols.
There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO SAVE YOUR GUNS.
1. Beginning Wednesday, call your State Senator and politely tell him or her that you are a law abiding firearm owner and that you strongly oppose Cullerton’s gun ban. Also, be sure to call your State Representative as well and politely deliver the same message. If you do not know who your State Representative please call the Illinois State Board of Elections at 217-782-4141.
2. Forward this alert to all your gun owning friends and family members. Be sure to tell them to call their senators and representatives as well.
3. Post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards and blogs to which you belong.
4. Join or renew your membership in the ISRA. Encourage your friends and family to join as well.
5. Make a generous donation to the ISRA by clicking the link below. We are in desperate need of your financial support to help beat back the onslaught of gun grab bills coming our way in 2013.

Paul if you've ever handled nuclear materials or passed science class in the 9th grade you would know that without proper protective equipment you would die within about 5 minutes to an hour from being near the nuclear material. Most nuclear weapons whether EMPGD (ElectroMagnetic Pulse Generating Device) MIRV (Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle) or Atom bomb use uranium and plutonium which realese alpha rays which are 20 times more powerful than gamma rays which com from ytterbium which is used in CAT ( Computed Assisted Tomography) machines. So to be strait forward you're an idiot. why do we need fast… Read more »
Hahahaha!! Troll, mole, commie, beyond reach…these are all names for people whose arguments you cannot address, as you yourselves demonstrate. Thanks for playing.
@Paul: Your last post uncovered you mole. No one in their right mind would want to own a nuke, but it drew you out commie. Mission accomplished.
hmm
Paul, you are beyond reach….And you clearly didn't read the bill (both of them)
The Eagle Has Died: I was wondering who here was stupid enough to try and make the case that ordinary citizens should be able to own nukes. You're the winner! If they weren't so gosh-darned expensive, people like you would love to have them. And what a wonderful world that would be! So safe and secure!! Bill Baker: Citizens owning nukes is "silly" for reasons you can't begin to explain, but citizens owning assault rifles (another tool made expressly for making war) is not silly, also for reasons you can't explain. Cheers for making my point for me. From now… Read more »
Paul when I was A kid in NYC,Carring a rifle on the subway was looked at the same as a trumpet. In High School I was on a shooting team.Even back then there was utter violence in the movies. Especially westerns and pirate. I met another Ret. Guy whoes 11yr old son har an AR-15, and goes hunting with his dad. Dam assaulting rabbits. Everyone speak up to BAN the BAN.
Paul is obviously a troll, should be site admin just ban him. It's obviously a bait tactic to make you look stupid arguing in favor of civilian nuclear weapons. Paul: No one is going to address that issue as you are an obvious liberal fool, and I will never read your responses or respond to you again. We need not argue to make you look silly, as the mere idea of nuclear weapons in civilian hands is silly in the first place. Why not Anti-matter bombs, or neutron bombs, or civilian bat-bombs like we developed in world war II (look… Read more »
@ Paul: Probably because its a silly and stupid comparison. If I could own a nuclear weapon why not? I don't because there are laws against it and I can't afford one. There are no laws against a semi auto m14 and I can afford one of those. So now the guberment wants to make laws against the m14 and make it to expensive to own one. You need to wake up son. The guberment is trying to disarm america and america will need all of her son's and daughters including you. Making silly arguments against people will only bring… Read more »
OK, so here's what we've learned: 1) Despite the hyperbolic article, this is not a blanket gun ban. 2) Restrictions on assault weapons do not constitute "disarming of Americans" anymore than restrictions against personal ownership of nuclear weapons. 3) Nobody here can explain why a nuke ban is acceptable and an assault weapon ban is not. 4) Your inability to address my arguments requires that you call me silly names to make yourselves feel better.
Paul is a plant. A mole. A worm. A scab.
Illinois view is enact a law that will take 5-10 years to traverse the justice system while "protecting" the citizens. When the courts determine, again, that Illinois is violating the 2nd Admendment, Illinois Legislature will get another 180 days to develop another law that will delay gun rights to Illinois citizens.
To Paul: Saying that the bill in Illinois is a hoax, how do you explain Chicago's gun laws?
In a free society, as America used to be, individual rights are inherent. Some rights are God given!!! Rights do NOT come from government! Governments DO NOT have rights. Any rights granted to government come from the governed!!! Any politicians that do not understand this need to be summarily removed from office and summarily disappeared!!!
Johnny Nightrider, your right to keep and bear arms is already infringed, unless you're telling me you also own ICBMs. Assuming you do not own any nuclear devices, please explain why that restriction is acceptable and this one is not. (3)

This bill if passed would ban all semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. It would ban pump action shotguns. Can you say Civil War if they try to do this across the country. There are 100 million plus gun owners and we are buying up AR and AK type rifles and 20 and 30 round PMags. What would be left revolvers, bolt action rifles, single shot rifles and shotguns, side by side and over under shotguns. No way this is so wrong. The 2nd Amendment gives the right to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed. This is The United States Of America. We are supposed to be a free nation.Thats why… Read more »
Hmmm. I posted a link directly to the text of the bill, demonstrating that this is no blanket gun ban at all. However the administrators of this site decided not to let that comment go through (and they'll probably decide the same thing about this one). That easily the most illuminating thing happening on this page.
Paul, You sound like someone who really need to be detoxified! What do you need? the bill is there, it got through!! christ step dancing jesus! LOOK IT UP!

The thing is, if I'm right and this is either 1) a complete hoax or 2) something that will never pass because it's unconstitutional, what do you think will happen? Do you think 1) AmmoLand will publish a post saying that there was never anything to worry about, or 2) never mention it again?
I'll bet it all on #2.
Look, folks, the Central Banker orchestrated economic collapse now unfolding, and the 'austerity' that is to come, are the PRIMARY reason, why the Obama Administration is ramping up its push for "gun control". They KNOW they need to disarm the public, if they are to be successful, at 1) Completely collapsing the U.S. Economy, with no criminal prosecutions, 2) Imposing "austerity" measures (more fraudulent debt) on the backs of the American public, 3) Surviving the coming collapse themselves, with assets intact, and 4) Coming out the other side of the collapse, smelling like a rose, with assets intact, no criminal… Read more »
An Illinois Senate committee passes through strict gun restrictions, that go against the constitutional grain of all federal rulings on the topic. The public health committee voted to go ahead with legislation that is intended to ban all semi-automatic rifles, AND pistols.
We are in deep sh!t
Living in Florida has its advantages.
We're the #1 state for concealed carry now in the US (over 1 million licenses issued).
Ever been to a Florida gun show? LOL! you people would drool!
This law would violate the ex post facto provision of the Constitution by retroactively making illegal something previously legal.
As a Wisconsin resident I have a comment and a question about this legislation. First, the city of Chicago has been made a total fool because of the failure of their draconian gun restricting laws to reduce the murder rate. As is typical of any legislature if current law fails to correct the problem pass more legislation. I travel into Chicago only when absolutely necessary. How will this legislation affect someone traveling through IL carrying anyone of these restricted firearm? It seems to me this would be a violation of the commerce clause by setting up an inter state barrier… Read more »
Use your heads. The criminals don't give a crap about ANY LAWS. THEY WILL STILL GET GUNS TO KILL OUR CHILDREN. The ONLY way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy/gal with a gun
OK I sat in on the Live audio feed directly from ilgas site it mad it a step further with 6 to 4 votes so it goes back today for another vote, WAKE up people its real and the state police are backing them. Not only do they want your guns they want you to register your mags if the ban doesn't pass, also backed by the Illinois State Police. Call your State Rep, Congressman and Senator, be nice and tell them to oppose any type of weapon ban
I have called and it is real! Even if this would be unconstitutional if it passes you will have a legal fight on your hands to stay out of prison. If it passes and you're the unlucky person they target first Paul, you will be saying hello to Bubba before you know it. Get active and call or turn them in now if you don't believe they are gunning for you!
Trust me, this is as real as it gets. This is way things are done here in Illinois. It just passed committee and will probably move to the Senate floor. Hopefully it will die there too, but is no hoax.
Paul, can you prove it's not real, because I KNOW it's real O.o call and check it yourself my doubtful friend.
In the case of the illinois law, Paul may be right, especially considering they just lost a federal case that requires them now to adopt some kind of concealed carry legislation within six months. Unfortunately, I'm much more concerned with the Feds, as Illinois has done lots of whacky gun laws over the years, it is Feinstein and her whackos that concern me. Yes, I believe what they want is unconstitutional, unfortunately, I'm more than a little tired of saying "I didn't see this coming." when something like this passes into law. The other thing is that too many times… Read more »
This isn't real. There will be no gun ban in Illinois. Mark my words, either "Cullerton's bill" is a complete hoax, or it's real and will go exactly nowhere because it violates the 2nd amendment. The purpose of this post is 1) to scare people into supporting Ammo Land generally and/or 2) to create a spike in the sale of guns and ammo. There's nothing more to it than that. Before you all call me a troll or a shill or whatever other term you use for those who are tethered to reality, why not wait and see that I'm… Read more »
To those of you out who think an AR-15 is an assault rifle. You are plain stupid. These are not assault weapons. They are not rapid fire weapons "AKA Full automatic rifles" Automatic weapons have been restricted from the general public since the 1930's. You also must renew you permit yearly at a cost of $250.00.
The other thing is. A gun cannot pull it's own trigger.
Chael has to be a shill or a troll! No one could be that stupid! That is except for the libs/dems…hey maybe that's it [dripping sarcasm].
The Bill of Rights(BoRs) does not grant rights to individuals, it is a recognition of natural rights. There are rights that are highlighted, and enshrined in the amendments of the BoRs. Every individual is endowed with natural rights(per-packaged). The BoR's is prohibitive to the Gov. It puts the Gov, lawmakers, judges, etc. on notice to "not infringe" upon natural rights. Rights can only be taken away from the individual if that individual violates the natural rights of another. That is due process.
The Gov is ban happy, and working outside thief employee handbook(Constitution/BoRs). Infringement on natural rights is tyranny.
Chael, you really need to read the 2nd amenment its not just giving ypu the right to own weapons but the right to own them to protect the people from a tyrant goverment. Of you lose the 2nd how do you protect the rest of your rights!
A gun is a gun your single shot rifle can kill just as easily as a ar or ak,
Chael on January 2, 2013 at 12:02 PM said: I don’t know, I kind of like this idea. Do we really need assault weapons in our homes, I mean these weapons were designed to kill mass amounts of humans. If I can still have my handgun and my single-shot hunting rifles I am more than cool with this. Let’s keep our kids safe can you explain to me how my ar15 at my house is posing as a danger to you and your kids right now? any weapon if its a revolver or knife or machete is considered an assault… Read more »
I don't have a "Bill of Needs" I have a "Bill of Rights".
Chael: "I don't know" in the pre-ambulatory clause of your statement. Any infringement of gun ownership upon law-abiding citizens shall be met with resistance by those who understand liberty. "those who trade liberty for security, deserve neither and with lose both." Laws are made:
First, to provide a lawful path of prosecution.
Second, to provide structure for punishment, after conviction.
Third, the tertiary benifit is deterance. Deterance is not a sound reason to make laws. Laws passed for deterrence primarily are unjust. Laws are not for crime prevention, especially for those that are calculated or have a death wish .
I don't know if Chael is a shill, or a troll, but if not, he's the kind of person you have to blame most for any upcoming civil war/unrest. The kind of person that thinks, well as long as they don't come for mine, take everyone elses. This is probably the most dangerous attitude and the one I can least respect in the world. The refusal to take anyones side really. When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a… Read more »
