Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- NRA-ILA is pleased to report that an attempt to repeal newly-enacted protections for National Rifle Association instructors has failed.

House Bill 426, introduced by Scott Saiki (D-26), sought to repeal statutory language enacted last year that protects NRA instructors from absolute liability while teaching the introductory pistol and revolver course that is necessary to purchase a firearm.

This bill was heard by the House Judiciary Committee yesterday and failed to pass by a 5-6 vote.

The opposition that NRA members voiced to HB 426 was overwhelming and had a strong influence in the final decision by this committee.

The NRA thanks you for your efforts in defeating this bill and preserving important protections for firearms instructors.  Your continued efforts in contacting your state legislators, such as those on HB 426, are critical in the fight to preserve our Second Amendment rights and to prevent anti-gun bills from moving forward.   Please continue to stay updated on legislative matters by visiting NRA-ILA’s Hawaii legislative page.
