Obama Takes Executive Action to Erase Second Amendment

As a Bette Davis character warned, “Fasten your seat belts…”

Iowa –-(Ammoland.com)- When the IFC and NRA warned last year that Barack Obama would “come after your guns” if elected to a second term as President, mainstream media outlets and pop culture figures scoffed, lied about his record and attempted to dismiss us as “paranoid cranks”.

Never mind that Obama’s deep antipathy to guns and your Second Amendment rights has been documented going at least as far back as his tenure in the Illinois legislature.

But now, in the wake of the horrific crimes committed by obviously unstable young men in Newtown, CT and Aurora, CO, the truth – the truth that WE knew all along – has been exposed.  No longer concerned with facing the electorate, President Obama has no more need to disguise his contempt for those of us who understand that “The right of self defense is the first law of nature.  … the true palladium of liberty… “(St. George Tucker, early American jurist).

Obama and his “progressive” allies have launched an all-out assault on your guns and your fundamental rights.

You’ve witnessed the frantic hand-wringing and the incessant cry to “do something” about the claimed culprit – “weapons of war” that “no one needs”.  Don’t be deluded into thinking that this is merely a sudden reaction to the recent tragedies.  No, the overall thrust of this attack was planned long ago (Sen. Feinstein has been readying her draconian gun ban bill for at least a year) and its architects have been waiting for both the right time – after the recent election – and the right emotional “trigger”.  As another master of the Chicago school of power politics, Rahm Emmanuel, famously said, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

We are being subjected to a multi-pronged juggernaut of local, state and federal anti-gun proposals that are intended to completely overwhelm our defenses.  Here are just a few outrageous examples from the news in the last few days:

Ammunition Restrictions

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal (D) wants federal law to require FBI background checks for the purchase of all ammunition!  He also plans to force retailers to track your ammunition purchases and to report to law enforcement anyone who purchases more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Gun Control by Executive Order

Recently, Vice President Biden announced: “The president is going to act.  There are executive orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”

Obama Announces List Of Executive Orders to Further US Disarmament

Today, we witnessed that action, and the message to firearms owners is clear. It’s time for us to appeal to their way of thinking and accept what they deem as “reasonable gun control”.

Gun Ban Extraordinaire – Senator Feinstein’s Bill

Among the bill’s many extremely onerous features:

  • Requires owners of existing “assault weapons” to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act (NFA).  The NFA imposes a $200 transfer tax per firearm, and requires an owner to submit photographs and fingerprints to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), to inform the BATFE of the address where the firearm will be kept, and to obtain the BATFE’s permission to transport the firearm across state lines.
  • ·         Prohibits the transfer of “assault weapons.”  Owners of other firearms, including those covered by the NFA, are permitted to sell them or pass them to heirs.  However, under Feinstein’s new bill, “assault weapons” would remain with their current owners until their deaths, at which point they would be forfeited to the government.

Gun Confiscation Threatened in Iowa

Meanwhile, Iowa’s own Rep. Dan Muhlbauer (D – Manilla) continues to make news…

In Carroll, IA this week, the Daily Times Herald published an interview with Rep.Muhlbauer that was conducted on December 19, in the wake of the Newtown, CT murders.  It had been previously reported that in this interview Rep. Muhlbauer had insisted that Iowa “needs” to ban “big” and “semi-automatic” guns and had suggested it may be necessary to confiscate those guns from Iowans if voluntary surrender and government “buy-backs” aren’t successful in getting them “off the streets” – by which he means “out of your homes”.

When faced with a negative public reaction to these views, Rep. Muhlbauer insisted that his comments had been taken out of context.  However the Daily Times Herald has now released the entire 15 minute recording, so you may judge for yourself how accurately the reporter portrayed his views.

Here is a link to the published interview: Muhlbauer: Ban, seize semi-auto weapons

(Note the interesting comments from some readers claiming to be law enforcement officers.  Let’s just say they seem resistant to the entire notion of raiding the homes of law-abiding, but armed, Iowans for the purpose of confiscating their rightful property.)

The common link among all these proposals is that, rather than seeking to comprehend and address the true nature of these horrible, but rare, mass murders, they blame inanimate objects – tools – for the crimes and attempt to demonize and punish those of us who understand, own, employ and enjoy these tools. They will accomplish nothing useful, while shredding your rights.

I'm not getting education or any half baked ideas from anti-gun groups.
