Covington VA –-(Ammoland.com)- Congratulations VCDL!

Governor McDonnell has signed Senator Obenshain’s CHP information protection bill into law!

It makes it illegal for Circuit Court Clerks to disseminate information on concealed handgun permit holders to anyone except police in the performance of their official duties.

The law becomes effective on July 1 2013.

Our thanks to Senator Obenshain, Governor McDonnell, and all those in the General Assembly who supported Obenshain’s bill!

Way to go VA! No, we should not HAVE to have a CWP, but it is about the only thing that separates the good guy from the bad guy. The bad guy does not get a CWP and when he is lying there dead and doesn’t have one, but you do, it pretty much tells the story to law enforcement. Makes their job easier to do and say you acted by the law.

The requirement for a permit is in itself an infringement on our second amendment rights.
