It’s the IDPA National Championship, the shooting sport derived from concealed carry training will crown the champions. International Defensive Pistol Association competition is a shooting sport rooted in the practice of concealed carry, not necessarily training, but still a great way to sharpen the skills that could save your life. And in this day and age that is a popular combination. Plus, Garry James with the story of the Broom Handle Mauser, that’s now one of History’s Guns. More Info…

Losing Another Legend:
Tom Knapp Longtime friend and exhibition shooter, Tom Knapp passed away on Friday at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. We will miss Tom’s big voice and his Impossible Shots. Jim Shepherd, Editor of the Outdoor Wires, has written his recollections of Tom, and mine, in a eulogy worth reading.

See You in Houston:
NRA Houston 2013John, Mike, and I are flying down on Thursday for the three days of the NRA Annual Meeting and Expo. We’ll have Shooting USA pod-casts direct from the show floor from the Smith & Wesson booth. Look for John at the Bushnell – Uncle Mike’s booth. And Mike Irvine will be at Ithaca Gun Company (and no doubt scouting out the newest waterfowl accessories). And I’ll be checking to see what Les Baer Sr. has come up with lately at his booth. We all look forward to seeing you there.

I’m just glad I’ve got both of these amazing shooters on tape all the way back to Jimmie Day when he was the initial host of American Shooter on ESPN in the middle 90’s!! Our family of defenders of the 2nd Amend. surely can’t keep losing these well known and important people. Our clout is surely hindered with the loss of these shooters. Ironically I’m watching the Outdoor ch.(5-1-13@ 2:30pm)and Bob Munden is on Impossible Shots segment and it’s hard to believe he’s gone and now Tom Knapp.RIP Guys and the fight will… Read more »
