Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)-  In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder used his constitutionally-protected freedom of speech to lash out over the lack of new gun control laws and to criticize those who are pro-gun for “hiding” behind the constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.

Vedder said he cannot understand why Congress refuses to pass more gun control “to put a dent in some of this insanity that’s happening.” He said he is so angry over it that if he didn’t “take the aggression out” through music, citizens “wouldn’t want [him] having a gun either.”

I get so mad I almost wish bad things upon these people. But I don’t have to because it seems like they happen anyways. It seems like every week I’m reading about a 4-year-old either shooting their sister, their dad, their dog, their brother or themselves, because there’s f—ing guns laying around.

Vedder then criticized Second Amendment proponents for “hiding” behind the U.S. Constitution and the idea that owning a gun is “fun.”

    1. I wish Eddie Vedder would stop hiding behind the corpse of Kurt Cobain and stop trying desperately to be Chris Cornell.

    2. What Cobain has to do with it I don’t know. He would have snuffed his life short with heroin, he almost did just that but a few months before.

Eddie follows Pete Townshend around like a puppy dog. While I admire Townshends’s writing and music his political views , IMHO, suck. Unlike Eddie boy, Townshend stuck to the music and never got political in public.

Politics + rock and roll = dead career (sooner than later)

    3. Eddie Vedder is a class-less tool who needs to learn not to sh&t where he eats and keep his political ideology to his damn self. He has constantly proven time and again his hypocrisy and fur coat communistic ideals throughout the years. So tired of the hot air blowing out of his empty head. And for all his liberal bullsh@t I’m pretty sure that he regards anyone not in line with his snobbish leftist ideals to be an inbred, ignorant hick (just because I own a gun)? Come on Eddie. You’re full of sh$t. And if it weren’t for Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Mike McCready you’d be an insignificant nobody and you know it. You old, wrinkled, bitter hipster ahole.

    4. I like him as an artist but he needs to learn what side of the bread is buttered on. We are all given the right to free speech. The only problem, he has a world stage to spout that crap. Most of us don’t. People like him need to voice their opinions like the rest of us, bitch, bitch, bitch.

    5. Born in Chicago Illinois, it answers a lot right there. Before preaching to the rest of us go home and clean up the place you came from. I don’t see much progress being made in the most restrictive state for gun ownership.

    6. He also said that 90% of the population supports gun control. I guess this would also explain why he hasn’t been musically relevant for the last 20 years. Apparently, he’s been living under a rock, in a cave, on another planet. It never amazes me how low some musicians will go to get attention for their new album.

    7. Never liked Pearl Jam. This just gives me another reason not to listen to them. I thought that PJ and Red Hot Chili Peppers were just two fag bands. They demonstrated it at one of the music award shows about twenty years ago. I have always thought of both bands lacking real talent.

    8. Anyone who owns a gun is an idiot. Eddie is 100% correct with his statement. You people are a bunch of hillbillies. Go make love to your sister!

    9. John Smith,

don’t use derogatory terms, it is not hillbillies, the correct term is Appalachian-Americans. As far as idiots owning guns; your statement includes 40% of the US population. μολών λαβέ

    10. A while back when a liberal celebrity started spouting off the audience told her to shut up an sing. I don’t give a hoot what you think and I don’t care for your music either so please just shut up.

    11. I wonder if Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder ever wonders if their tune “Jeremy” made some kids think that bringing a gun to school and committing suicide or homicide was somehow cool? “Jeremy spoke in class today…” Of course, that was an “artistic” statement, protected by the First Amendment. Why are the gun-haters always so hypocritical and cowardly? People who pretend that their choice to be helpless is somehow noble always seek to force their weakness upon everyone else. Their real problem isn’t just with guns, it’s with freedom in general. Because it takes a certain amount of backbone and self-discipline to live in a free society, they prefer to plod along in a joyless, craven existence, micromanaged by the loveless State from cradle to grave. Most of these hoplophobes really don’t have a problem with killing, they simply prefer that their victims be helpless and unarmed… you know, kind of like the unborn in this Country.

    12. Why is it every anti gunner says they would hurt people if they had a gun? The hell is that? you’re a sociopath so everyone else should have a gun because he’s scared of killing people?

    13. When Pearl Jam first came out, my brother and I were like “who is this douche?”. I mean, talk about manufactured angst! This guy was working it, milking it, selling it to the plebs, and they bought it. From his fake emoting in his music, to his liberal naivety, this guy is real “winner”.

    14. OK, Eddie … *POOF* All our guns are gone. Now, Memo to: EDDIE
      From: President COMRADE
You are hereby required to Only play Covers of songs of Lawrence Welk from 1956 to 1959.
      Now where do you turn???

    15. Good thing I never wasted any of my money on his drivel! I’m WTF is “when the dogs smell her” mean (or whatever the lyrics are)??
