Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- Valinda Rowe of IllinoisCarry.com presents (above) Mary Shepard, successful plaintiff in Shepard vs Madigan, with one of the very first concealed carry training certificates in the state.

In a well deserved turn of events, Anna, IL resident and Second Amendment plaintiff Mary Shepard has already met her training requirements to receive a Firearm Concealed Carry License in the state of IL. Mary was given instruction by newly certified instructors and IllinoisCarry directors Mike & Valinda Rowe of Enfield, IL. The Rowe’s provided the special class to make sure Mary was one of the first, if not THE first, person to achieve the training required to get her license once the application process is established.

“It has been quite a process to get instructors certified and to get a curriculum approved by the Illinois State Police” said the Rowes who went on to say, “IllinoisCarry received the certification for the curriculum that was written by IllinoisCarry.com members on Wednesday morning, Oct. 2 and we had Mary in class that afternoon. Mary was very engaged and a joy to teach and we consider it a privilege to be the ones to help this spunky lady get her license”.

In 2009, Mary was a victim of a vicious beating while working in her church in Anna. She went on to become one of the main plaintiffs in the lawsuit challenging the IL ban on carrying a gun outside the home. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the ban unconstitutional earlier this year and was instrumental in passage of the new Illinois concealed carry law this past spring. Illinois was the last of the 50 states in the nation to finally pass a Right to Carry law. The Illinois State Police are scheduled to begin accepting license application Jan. 5, 2014.

I suggest a letter writing campaign to the Governor asking him to order (or request) the ISP to issue license #1 to Mary Shepard. How could he possibly refuse!

This woman should be as revered as one of our founding fathers as she has given liberty to those who before had none.

Thank You for your courage Mary. Not too many people can say “they made a difference.”

My salute to Mary Shepard, she definitely has earn the number one spot
to have the first permit issued. She has, as an American endured and
overcame to lead Illinois to accept the fact we the people do have a
right to self defense. My deepest thanks to you.
