NEWTOWN, Conn –-(Ammoland.com)- On Wednesday, the House Natural Resources Committee will vote to advance HR 2799, legislation to authorize the Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council (WHHCC.)

Introduced by Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus Co-Chair Robert Latta along with Co-Chair Bennie Thompson and Vice Chairs Rob Wittman and Tim Walz and four of their colleagues, HR 2799 would permanently establish the WHHCC, on which NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti currently serves.

Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council would advise the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture on wildlife and habitat conservation, hunting and recreational shooting.

Authorizing this important committee will ensure the hunting and shooting communities a place at the table when these key federal agencies make policy decisions on issues important to the firearms and ammunition industry for generations to come.

NSSF had a lead role in drafting this legislation along with the Boone and Crockett Club, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation and other partner organizations.
