Does LWVGR President Ann Dempsey realize that this article (www.lwv.org/content/gun-control), dated 7/8/2013, is located on their official website, which puts forth the fact that they are and have been very anti-gun for years?

Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- On Monday November 18th, 2013, there was an Anti-CCW Panel Discussion on Concealed Carry in Rockford IL. The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) sent out an alert asking gun owners to attend the discussion. I’ve received emails criticizing the ISRA for “crying wolf”.

The panel included representation from The League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford (LWVGR), the YMCA, ICHV, and Northern Illinois University (NIU). The Winnebago Court States Attorney was also there but he was representing the county’s view as he should have been.

No pro-gun advocates were invited to be on the panel, which has been proven true in the past when the LWVGR is involved.

The Rockford Register Star published an article in reference to an ISRA alert, which you can read here: www.rrstar.com/article/20131118/BLOGS/131119359/10445/NEWS, notes that Ann Dempsey, the LWVGR President, said “This is an educational forum so people can come out and learn about the new law that’s coming into effect. The mission of the league is not pro or con.”

Does LWVGR President Ann Dempsey realize that this article (www.lwv.org/content/gun-control), dated 7/8/2013, is located on their official website, which puts forth the fact that they are and have been very anti-gun for years? That makes one of her statements a lie. Either that or President Ann Dempsey somehow wasn’t aware of her own entity’s position on such a controversial subject.

A goal of ours is to let Second Amendment supporters know of these events and to warn them when the representation is part of an anti-gun entity. One clear reason the discussion turned out to be a “non-event,” is that YOU showed up; ISRA members showed up; Second Amendment supporters showed up; gun owners showed up. You did exactly the right thing; you showed up and voiced your support for our Second Amendment rights. Thank you for doing your part in protecting our Second Amendment!

On a sad note, we must remember our people who were in the path of last Sunday’s tornado outbreak. I know of many members who have either had very bad damage done or completely lost their home and/or business. Our hearts go out to them. Please do what you can to help. Everyone can’t do everything but if everyone will do something that will make a huge difference.

Thank you for being a member.
