The 20-inch octagonal barrel allows for greater maneuverability and yet still provides the accuracy that is required in fast-action competition. I initially purchsed an Uberti copy of the colt burgess in 45LC. I traded that in for the 1873 Uberti 45LC comp ready rifle and what a sweetheart to shoot in cowboy action.
I since had the forearm & hand grip checkered in a winchester pattern and saving up to have Jimmy Spurs put some additional final touches to her to enchance the radip firing to the next level.
The only thing I don’t like it the rubber butt pad. It robs some of the authenticity from the gun. The recoil from a .45 colt isn’t that bad. If you think it is shoot your .30-06 for a while.
I agree completely. There are leather butt covers for sale on ebay. They look really cool and we’re made for SASS shooting. I considered buying the regular 1873 from Uberti and taking it to a gunsmith for modification but then this decreases the value of the gun.
