Groton, CT –-(Ammoland.com)- CCDL President Scott Wilson Speaks out on gubernatorial candidate Mark Boughton and Michael Bloomberg’s anti-human rights organization ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’:

“We are pleased that Mark Boughton has ended his affiliation with Michael Bloomberg’s organization, although I am not sure that the timing of his departure will help his campaign at this point, or even if his leaving MAIG was intended for that purpose”.

“CCDL certainly does appreciate Mayor Boughton’s stating his recent revelations about the organization. ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ is not concerned with taking guns out of the hands of criminals. It has always been about creating as many difficulties and obstructions as possible to disarm law abiding citizens.”

“Americans have the right to protect themselves and their families, and Mr. Bloomberg continually dismisses that notion. That fact that former Mayor Bloomberg makes sure that he has personal bodyguards further underscores his hypocrisy”.

About the CCDL: The Connecticut Citizens Defense League was formed in February 2009 by a small group of concerned citizens as a non-partisan organization to advocate for second amendment rights in the state of Connecticut. Since their founding, the group has grown to more than 13,000 members. Thanks to this large supportive base across the state the CCDL has become a fixture of the capitol, and well recognized by committees that oversee firearms related bills.

CCDL is also actively involved at the state Board of Firearms Permit Examiners. As the go-to organization in the state they are consulted with regularly by lawmakers who have questions and concerns about pending legislation or existing laws. Great theatrical move here. He can now tell his lib friends that he ‘has’ supported MAIG, and then go to a repub meeting and claim that he has denounced it. Doesn’t sound too 2 faced to me.

Boughton read the writing on the wall and knows he would have no chance to become the republican nominee while a member of MAIG. He isn’t a stupid man, or ignorant of MAIG’s true purpose. Therefor, he shouldn’t be supported in his quest for governor.
