Will it really happen? Armed American Military Bases…

Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- Theory and Practice: Analysis of arming officers and staff NCOs on American military bases, from a friend recently retired from active service:

“All day long, I’ve heard the usual boring media predictions of ‘the wild west’ when soldiers go armed on military bases. These same liberal clowns make these same preposterous predictions every time a state passes a ‘ shall-issue’ CCW law.

When their predictions don’t come true, when the level of violence actually goes down (which it always does), they all curiously develop amnesia!

The biggest problem wouldn’t be actually arming our military officers and senior NCOs, and permitting them, indeed expecting them, to constantly go armed. Even relevant, competent training may rear its ugly head!

The problem will be preventing a depraved hoard of weenie-waggers from immediately descending upon them like a cloud of locusts, arbitrarily enforcing at least sixty reams of new and incomprehensible regulations, requiring interminable tedious paperwork, endless pseudo-psychological (actually political) profiling, daily anal inspections, etc.

The real goal will be for politicians and top military ‘leadership‘ to be able to cynically claim ‘progress,’ while making the practice of our heroic officers and staff NCOs actually going armed, and thus being in a position to effectively protect themselves and their soldiers, impossible in any practical sense, much as it is now..

They will hope, as they always do, that the public will mistake motion for action. They don’t really care about anything else!

I’ve noted Army and Air Force officers are expert at following rules. Occasionally, Navy and Marine officers are too, but they seem to be more adept at asking for forgiveness after the fact. I think it has a lot to do with organizational history!”

Millions of illegals, Muslims, MS13. and who knows how many terrorist are coming over our borders every day. Millions of Muslims within our country worshiping at mosques all over our country. How many are radicals? Hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands.(maybe a million) Government amnesty turns all into legal US citizens that can buy guns and ammo. What happens one day when a massive coordinated internal attack happens? All police forces killed off in hours, military bases overrun before our soldiers can get access to weapons. Our National Guard has been stripped of all weapons and transportation to protect our… Read more »

My fear is that political appointees (I include most flag officers in that category) will dream up a ridiculous one-size-fits-all approach, much as Slick Willie Clinton did when he banned the carrying of firearms on any military installation. It was my experience during my 23 years in uniform, that each installation commander decided the best policy for his own installation. That should be the approach, but unfortunately the DOD, with strong pressure from Congress and other anti-gun nitwits will probably create a “solution” that is impractical, overly restrictive and doomed to failure.

The attitude of some can be illustrated by a senior nypd officer in an interview 25 years ago. The topic civilian ccw. A nyc woman with political conne connection had a ccw permit. She had defended herself. she aske the nypd officer in a q and a format filmed by tv where would she be without her gun. The answer from the cop He was glad she was alive but society in general would be safer with no guns even if it meant a few more muggings and rapes. Unbelieveable.

I remember the US Army Officer’s Guide of 1870 stated “enlisted men are untrustworthy and must be watched every minute…or other words to that same effect. Such is the same feelin’ in today’s Army. The enlisted will never be trusted by the Officer Corps, as they are looked down on by their betters(?). Such is life in the military. During my tenure with the US Army, I found people that I would not trust with a weapon in combat…and that’s a heck of a statement. There were thug soldiers that seemed to get away with anything they did, were gang… Read more »

It’s funny, in Iraq and Afghanistan we are armed and locked and loaded with no real problems 24/7 but but here, Oh god no.

Why only officers and NCO’S? Any active duty or retired with a CCW should be allowed to concealed carry on or off base. The base could still limit access to secure areas just like off base where you could store the gun in your vehicle or have gun lockers like in Arizona to store your gun while in restricted areas, which do have armed officers on duty. Its nuts that the military has to call 911.
