Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)-  As Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly raised money for Maine gun control gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud (D) this weekend, they also had the opportunity to meet “privately with Republican former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara at their nearby [Kennebunkport] compound.”

Associated Press reports indicate Giffords and Kelly were scheduled to meet with the Bushes Saturday, August 9 2014.

The same reports show that Kelly first became friends with the Bush family during his time in Houston as an astronaut.

According to ABC News, Giffords and Kelly had lunch with George H.W. Bush and his wife during a similar gun control tour through Maine in July of last year. At that time, Giffords and Kelly were on their “Rights and Responsibilities” tour for more gun control via expanded background checks.

In 1989 George H.W. Bush used an executive order to implement gun control by “halting the importation of some semi-automatic rifles” after an AK-47 was used in a heinous crime “that killed five children.” And in 1995 he wrote a letter ending his affiliation with the NRA because of the way NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre criticized the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms’ treatment of “law-abiding citizens.”

    1. I guess Gabby and her space cadet mouth piece husband are trying to get a former Republican president in their corner on that UBC bullshit ! I sure hope Bush don’t have any senility issues.

    2. Bush – The Elder, is no friend of the 2nd Amendment. A “nice” old fellow and a hero of WWII, he is, nonetheless, a RINO dolt and useful idiot of the anti-gun left. He was looking for an opportunity to drop his NRA membership, because he never FULLY believed in their mission to support and defend the 2nd, and because he no longer needed them for selfish political expediency. The truth is, the NRA parroted the words of a DEMOCRAT, Rep John Dingel of MI, by ACCURATELY describing the ATF as “jack-booted thugs” regarding their anti-gun, anti-2nd Amendment, anti-freedom, anti-AMERICAN actions against LAW-ABIDING gun owners at the time. have they changed their ways now? I don’t think so. Then again, they haven’t overtly used a military-style assault on a large group of innocent men, women, and CHILDREN lately and shot, gassed, or burned them to death lately. They still attack our freedoms on a DAILY basis though, and with a backing of a dictator-wannabe in the White House.

    3. This story about Bush are a surprise to me, I wonder why the news on the television never report this [ maybe I were working during the night ]
