Savage Arms® continues to be a leader of innovation in factory rifles with the introduction of the TIMBER Series– a new series of precision-engineered rimfire rifles. The TIMBER Series features three new rimfires, the TIMBER Thumbhole, TIMBERLite Thumbhole and TIMBERLite. Each firearm is available in bolt-action (B-Series) as well as 22 LR semi-automatic (A-Series) and offered in a variety of caliber options including: 22 LR, 17 HMR and 22 WMR. The TIMBER Series offers shooters features like a 20 MOA Picatinny Rail, a 10-round rotary magazine, a barrel threaded with cap for 1/2-28 and thread-in head spacing.

I am sure these new models will come with a hefty price tag so I will just stick with my very accurate Savage Mark ll 22 rifle as it has served me very well so far and it was bought new for a reasonable price several years ago .
“Precision” as applied to firearms is becoming as meaningless as the familiar buzzword “Tactical” – all too often it means overpriced and underperforming. Unless a .22 rimfire will consistently shoot groups down around 1/4″ or better at 50 yards, it isn’t a “precision” rifle. Anschutz makes rifles that will do that. Many old Winchester 52s will also. And over at Rimfire Central, people have tweaked 10/22s up to that level. None of these are cheap. Ammo quality is vitally important, and it WILL take ammo like match grade Eley or Lapua to do that.
