U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- The company, Lucid Optics , was founded in 2009 and offers a verity of optics. For info you can go to www.mylucidgear.com.

In spite of being new they have made a good impression on the firearms market as they make quality products.

There is always room for a quality product with a reasonable price, especially optics. Since they are new there isn’t a lot of info yet nor is their product range great. As time goes by they will add more choices and perhaps some handgun scopes as there is a limited choice there. Since the quality seems good and the prices stay reasonable I imagine that they will do well and expand their line.

Lucid Optics L7 Riflescope 1-6X24 P7 : The 22 Hornet is a 150 yard rifle so a low powered scope is just the ticket.

The scope I received is Lucid L7 Riflescope 1-6X24 P7 a 1 X 6 power because I want to work with a 22 Hornet rifle and a 45-70 both short range calibers. It is the L7 model and has a 30 mm tube I started with the single shot 22 Hornet rifle.. It is a low dollar rifle but produces excellent accuracy. Mounting the scope was easy and once it was sighted in accuracy with the loads tried was good. It produces a good picture in all of the lighting situations I tried. The 22 Hornet is a 150 yard rifle so a low powered scope is just the ticket. I have a couple of 45-70 rifles and like the Hornet they are not long range rifles so this maginfication works well for those and other similar woods range rifles. Due to the good light gathering features, dawn and dusk hunting work well with this Lucid Optics riflescope.

My favorite bullet for the 22 Hornet is a 40 grain. For years I used a Speer with great results on groundhogs. A couple of years ago I couldn’t find the Speer so a 40 grain Hornady Flex Tip was tried. Accuracy is splendid and with my favorite load 10.5 grains of 2400 powder, I obtain just over 2900 FPS in the rifle.

I also tried the 45 grain Remington HP RN which also shoots well. I generally use those in lever guns such as the 218 Bee and the 219 Zipper.

Since this is a test scope, I am going to try it on a few other rifles I have. There are two H & R single shot a 38-55 and a 45-70 both perform well with open sights. I have a couple of other low dollar rifles that may wear it. I have tested quite a few low dollar rifles and they always perform above their paygrade.

If more magnification is desired, they have an L5, which as a Lucid L5 6 X 24 or a Lucid L5 4 X 16 Scope, either will do well for long range. Therefore, they have scopes to cover any hunting situation the we are likely to encounter. The price range on Lucid Optics is in the area where most shooters can afford them. Later on, I will put one or both through their paces.

Another item they offer are the Lucid Red Dot Sights. The military in the past few years has used the D7 Red Dot sighting system from Lucid with completely satisfactory results. Both the military and law enforcement community have appreciated the quality of the D7.

As good as it is they have improved it with capped turrets and a new reticle with more capabilities.

The new unit is known as the Hd7 Red Dot Sight. A kill flash accessory and more durable buttons are also available. The light sensor has also been upgraded. The HD7 has been designed from the ground on up and is very competitive for the price. For someone who is interested they have magnifiers for their Red Dot sights. They go from 2 to 5 power and are sold as an accessory. There is a P7 combat optic that is a 4 power and runs on AA batteries.

Lucid Optics also has some small stuff and add on items. The Lucide SC9 is a nice compact spotting scope with a 9 X 27 power capability. They have a few mounts and sunshades so it would pay to check out their store.

Why are most “review and test” articles about sporing optics that arrive in my email inbox so useless? Nothing about “shooting the box” to check accuracy of the adjustments, nothing about maintaining zero when the ‘scope is zoomed, nothing about the range of adjustment, nothing about actual current MSRP, nothing about fog resistance or waterproofing . . . this article is so amateurish that it makes me wonder if the guy really got his hands on the ‘scope at all, or if he’s just lifting some text & stock photos from the manufacturer’s catalog.

Because this is marketing, not testing. I agree with you…..I want data, not a sales pitch.
