U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- We’ve received a lot of questions about our impending release of the Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit for the M&P M2.0 and I wanted to provide a bit of insight and information to our loyal customers who have been waiting so patiently – and impatiently as the case may be.
Yes, we are diligently working on a Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit for the M&P M2.0. The final design is taking longer than expected, but as you know, Apex doesn’t simply do ‘Good Enough.’ Ours is a slightly higher standard.
Bringing our Forward Set Trigger system into the M2.0 is not as simple as a few geometry changes on the trigger body or sear. With the addition of the Sear Actuator to the M2.0’s fire control system, we’ve opted to design and manufacture our own version to aid in the reduction of trigger pre-travel. Since this is a new element to the Forward Set system design, we’ve chosen to seek patent protection for the Apex Forward Set Sear Actuator and we have been notified by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that Apex has received Patent Pending status for the new design. Obviously this has caused some delays in our planned release timeline.
Being as the Apex Sear Actuator is a stamped component, we’ve engaged the services of an outside stamping company to assist us in manufacturing this component. We’ve gone through multiple variations of the Apex Sear Actuator in the past few months and are awaiting final samples to come in from the manufacturer. If we approve them for use, we’ll order the pilot lot for final verification and approvals, then it’s ‘Game On.’
Since we had significant changes to the trigger body to insure fit and function in the M2.0, we had to design a new trigger safety. We opted to make this trigger safety from polymer for ease of manufacturing. The mold design and manufacturing process takes a fair amount of time, as do all the little tweaks involved in getting it just right. This too added more time to the development of the new trigger kit.
Additionally, Smith & Wesson just released information on the new M&P M2.0 Compact model. Apex was fortunate enough to have a pre-release sample of the pistol for R&D use. Not only have we confirmed the Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit will work in the Compact, just as it does in the 4.25” and 5.00” versions of the pistol, we’ve also prototyped an Apex Grade Barrel for the 9mm M2.0 Compact and will begin production shortly.
For those of you that keep asking “When?,” we want to assure you that we haven’t forgotten you. We aren’t stalling. And, we are taking the correct amount of time to get it right. Because when it’s all said and done, this is still an Apex product and there is a certain standard of quality and performance you expect. So when we do release the Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit for the M&P M2.0, you can be sure Apex is delivering to you the best product possible – because that’s how we do business.
We appreciate your continued patience and will keep you posted with any new developments.
