BELLEVUE, WA — -(AmmoLand.com)- Responding to Baltimore Mayor Bernard “Jack” Young’s argument that he isn’t responsible for the city’s rising homicide rate because he’s “not committing the murders,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today fired right back, “Law-abiding gun owners aren’t committing murders, either.”
“Yet Mayor Young and his fellow Democrats continue pushing extremist gun control laws, which only penalize honest firearms owners,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Universal background checks, which Young supported from the moment he joined ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ two months ago, don’t prevent criminals from getting guns, and he should know that.
“Young’s hypocrisy and buck-passing shouldn’t surprise anybody,” Gottlieb continued. “He has quickly joined the ranks of liberal public officials playing the blame game; officials who refuse to take responsibility for the mayhem happening on their watch.”
Young became Baltimore’s mayor when Catherine Pugh stepped down earlier this year. Before that, he served on the city council for more than 20 years, eventually rising to the office of Council President.
He told reporters Wednesday that the city’s leadership is not to blame for Baltimore’s rising murder rate. The Baltimore Sun reported the city has logged 296 murders so far this year.
“Jack Young has been a city official for more than two decades,” Gottlieb observed, “so you bet he’s part of the problem. Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, and in Baltimore it is virtually impossible for average citizens to get carry permits for personal and family protection.
“An honorable Democrat named Harry Truman had a sign on his desk,” Gottlieb recalled. “That sign said ‘The Buck Stops Here.’ So, Mayor Young, this rising violent crime is on you, not on honest gun owners in Maryland or anywhere else. So stop trying to pass the buck to private citizens who only want to exercise their constitutionally-protected rights, without having to jump through a bunch of hoops or get past all of the legislative roadbloacks you and your fellow Democrats want to put in their way.

I think we should blame Adam Lanza’s mother for what was done with her AR15 because she let herself get shot by her son. Makes about as much sense as suing Remington.
@CL – Blame wise it makes more sense to sue the mother rather than Remington, because she was closer to the problem with ability to recognize and inhibit the illegal behavior. OTOH Remington has deeper pockets and that is all that lawyers care about – go for the $$$$.
There is an YOOOOOGE difference between Mrs. Lanza nd Remington. And no, I;m not thinking of the fact that one is dead and the other very much not so. One of them has LOTS OF MONEY the other has none. Can’t get more basic than that. I sincerely hope whichever court puts the spike in this lawsuit awards costs of litigation, and puintive for harm to the name, of the prevailing party. SCOTUS will allow the suit to continue, hopefully the CT court will realize the melee that will ensue if you are allowed to sue manufacturers of any product. Of course the courts are filled with attorneys that stand to profit from such a ruling.
@OV – Dig a bit deeper into that story. We’ve all accidentally splashed a small amount of hot beverage on ourselves – you swear a bit and move on. It’s not like they don’t know they are disregarding the Federal Constitution, and depriving law abiding citizens of their rights. Why do the American people allow elected officials to break the oath of office (Which is a federal crime) and not hold them accountable? Serve not Rule..

Here again, I would remind you of the differences in the basic tenets separating the right from the left. What follows are the Dems actual tenets. Lifetime career politicians never take responsibility for the ghettos and crime zones they’ve created, but somehow it’s not their fault? Remember that term “low voter turn out”? @USA; In times past, the color PURPLE meant you belonged to the “elitist cabal”. Purple die was very hard to obtain. Thus, only people with money(other peoples’ money) could afford purple clothing.

It’s up to the real men in the community to help these families. It goes back to the Lion’s Club and the many community service organizations: they knew they had a responsibility and they were good men and women. You speak so ill of these lost children: I hope you take that anger and frustration and do something about it: so you’re not part of the problem.
