CIVIVI Mini Praxis Folding Pocket Knife

CIVIVI Mini Praxis Folding Pocket Knife

Recently, I received a couple of Civivi knives to test out. I tested the Civivi Button Lock Elementum II Knife on a pigeon hunt. I also took the one that we’ll discuss today-the CIVIVI Mini Praxis Folding Pocket Knife. I used it to clean some Eurasian doves and then further tested it out as an EDC.

I used both knives to bone out the breast of the birds that I shot that day with my .25 Umarex Gauntlet II PCP airgun. So, with this introduction, let’s get into the Product Review.

After cleaning birds for all of my life, I’ve finally decided that a caping knife works best. But that doesn’t mean that in a pinch you can’t get by using virtually any other knife. The CIVIVI Mini Praxis Folding Pocket Knife could also work as a decent enough skinning knife for your big game animals, and yes, the Civivi Mini Praxis Flipper Knife worked fine for breasting my doves but its real application to me is as an EDC. So, to be fair to the knife, let’s discuss its functionality as an EDC.

CIVIVI Mini Praxis Folding Pocket Knife

The CIVIVI Mini Praxis Folding Pocket Knife is a good EDC and should also work in a pinch as a skinning knife to skin your big game animals.

Due to the below-listed features, I feel like I have a firm grip when using the Civivi Mini Praxis Flipper Knife. Let me list out those features:

  1. Of course, the flipper serves the dual purpose of also acting as a finger guard. As an added benefit, it also has finger grooves on it. And they are pretty aggressive, so they really work. The liner lock also has finger grooves on the side which slightly further helps to enhance your grip.
  2. If you want to choke down on the blade while doing more intricate work, it has a finger choil that helps stabilize your grip.
  3. The spine has ½-inches of thumb grooves. I wish it had 1 ¼-inches of thumb grooves, especially for when you choke down on the blade.
  4. It has a textured G10 handle, which enhances your grip.
The thumb grooves, finger grooves on the flipper, and the finger choil all greatly aid in ensuring that you have a good grip.

The blade on the Civivi Mini Praxis Flipper Knife is 2.98 inches long and is of the drop point design, so it will also make a decent skinning knife for your big game animals. The spine is ground down close to ½-inches, so the blade has a definite point for all of your stabbing jobs.

For this length of the blade, it is just a hair wider than the norm. Not necessarily a bad thing; I just thought that I would point that out. The spine is beveled on both sides, and I assume to reduce resistance when doing your stabbing jobs.

It utilizes a liner lock system to secure the blade in place while in use. On any liner lock, I always check to make sure that it slides over at least the width of the liner. Many don’t, which compromises its locking ability. Mine hits the mark and slides over slightly more than the full width of the liner lock.

It has a one-position pocket clip and stores the knife in your pocket tip-up. It does not have a lanyard hole, which is fine with me because I don’t install lanyards on my EDC. I’m afraid they will hang up and get jerked out of my pocket.

Now, for one last feature that you may like, it has an open back, which greatly aids in helping to keep it sanitary; if you use your knife to eat with, for instance, when out fishing, that’s a big deal.

If a folder has an open back, it is much easier to keep sanitary, which is a big deal if you eat with it.

The MSRP on the Civivi Mini Praxis Flipper Knife is $35.00, and as is usual, we will close with the specs.
