Pretty Bait and Switch Much??? I also could not find the advertised price.
I bought one Sunday morning for $199.99 plus $20 shipping.
I like to buy one myself since I don’t have any 7.62. It is cool that it will mate up to my colt LE6920 but what magazine do you use?
Thanks.
You need a dedicated 7.62×39 magazine, the best ones are Duramag/C Products. Also ASC work well.
thank you for the information. I appreciate it.
Have a nice day Alan in NH
Any other modifications suggested for switch to 7.62×39? Heavier buffer, stiffer spring, or anything like that? Is it just upper, magazine(s) and ammo?
If you don’t mind me butting in, I have found that they work just like you described well. The only issue I have with my uppers are that with a standard flash hider, they kick like a mule on a 16 inch barrel. I would suggest a muzzle brake of some kind.
@ Alan, I have several ASCs. They are pure junk, IMO. I cannot get more than four in a 10 round mag and when I do, the 1st won’t chamber. Duramags are fantastic though.
Ope, I don’t have any pmags for my AKs, just standard mags. Some have last round hold bolt back and some don’t. I have not heard any negative comments about pmags though.
I just saw an ad for pmags and am thinking about buying a couple 10 rounders just to try them out. I would get 30 rounders but they are illegal in WA State. You can supposedly use the 30 rounders if you bought them before the law changed. All the reviews I have seen on the Pmags are very favorable.
Ope, I am sure the Pmags are good. As far as buying 30 rounders?, At this point, I do not have enough pesos to hire a lawyer to fight this nonsense and most online suppliers won’t sell them to WA. State as it would put their tits in a ringer and they would lose all of their FFL licenses, and go to jail for how long? A federal judge, obviously a communist has already determined that the ban is constitutional. The SAF and many more Gun Rights organizations have already acted to pursue this in a court of law, but… Read more »
I understood what you meant Ope. They are all in on the fight. What I meant was that I have too much to lose and not enough to gain by being the One that wants to put himself out there and poke it to the point where I lose my freedom for the few years that I have left to live, God willing, of course.
Follow up review here. Received it Thursday and snapped it onto a A2 rifle length lower/rifle length buffer. Put about 50 rounds of Wolf through it today w/C products and ASC magazines, ran like a champ. Ejection was about 10 feet away at 4 o’clock, very positive primer strikes. Looks great too, very impressed.
I got an email from them and they stated they have no control over what Ammoland prints and asked me what magazine I wanted. You got lucky when you scored it for 199.
I sent an email asking why the price difference and if it was reall 199. No response in over 24 hours.
LOL, I can’t believe the amount of children out here.
The price is $279 when I looked and not $199
yep, your right. I still might want one if I can find out if you can use a standard 5.56 mag or at least get one that will work. Didn’t watch the video.
Alan in n h is right, use c-products/asc mags. They are the ONLY ones that I could get to RELIABLY work. A problem that I ran into was lite firing pin strikes that would not set off a round on steel cased ammo. I fixed this by turning about 5 thousandths off of the first flat on the f. pin on the primer side. After that and with the c-products mags, it runs like a clock.

Thanks for the additional information. I will copy it and paste it with the other answer. I have a call into the company asking why the price difference.
Lets see if I can get it for the 199. He he.
Is it possible you got firing pin for Grendel type 2 instead of for 7.62×39? My understanding is that difference in BCG between G2 and 7.62 is that bolt face is a little deeper and FP a hair shorter for G2. Think carrier and other bits are same as 5.56 BCG – so just different bolt and FP. Have heard that using 7.62 FP for Grendel tends to result in primer ruptures. I have an unfired G2 and that is extent of my knowledge on this topic. That and that G2 has legs and is deserving of long ranges –… Read more »
I agree. The Grendel has legs. It’s a 1,100 yd. capable. Up to about 400 yds. it matches the 762 x 51 but, after that it has it beat hands down. I don’t know anyone who can put a Grendel through it’s paces over 1k, free hand but that is nothing a steady rest, like a bipod and prone can’t fix. Less recoil, less drop at distance and very accurate. Good glass and a good trigger are a big help when you are looking to get the best there is out of it.

Hey Bear Creek Arsenal, how about making some ARs in 5.45×39 soviet? That is a very interesting cartridge that works well in an AR platform and the bonus is most standard AR metal magazines work fine with 28 rounds.
Not sure I’ve ever seen 5.45 ammo in person – but my impression was that it’s simply necked down 7.62×39. Isn’t case wider than 556/223? If it works in standard mag, why wouldn’t 7.62 work just as well?
7.62 case shape is very similar to Grendel case. I accidentally loaded 223 into a Grendel magazine and it wasn’t pretty. Cartridges spit out of magazine randomly, though once inserted they fed OK sometime with a couple double feeds… Most definitely not my first choice.
So 5.45×39 is a very different animal than either 7.62 russ or our own 5.56. the case is smaller capacity but the bullet is much longer and aerodynamic geometry. way more accurate and all around efficient small arms design. I put together an m4 style AR a while ago, magazines were a challenge at first but very accurate flat shooter.
Why does Ammoland keep runnning this add when the price is wrong and the company selling it will not honor Ammolands advertised price.
