Cheltenham Township, PA – A DoorDash driver turned the tables on would-be carjackers early Tuesday morning, using his legally owned firearm to defend himself. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the 1900 block of Humphrey Merry Way in the Lynnewood Gardens Apartments.
According to Cheltenham Township Police, the DoorDash driver, who had a valid permit to carry a firearm, was approached by two individuals. One of the suspects, later identified as 18-year-old Divine Allen Hargrove, demanded the driver’s car keys while brandishing a “ghost” gun with an extended magazine.
After the driver threw his keys to the ground, he heard a gunshot and immediately drew his own weapon, firing back at the suspects. Fortunately, neither the driver nor the suspects were hit by the gunfire.
Police quickly responded to the scene and, with the help of a K-9 unit, located Hargrove hiding near a garage. Hargrove, who was found with a ski mask and the gun, claimed to be the victim. However, the DoorDash driver’s description matched Hargrove, leading to his arrest.
Investigators revealed that the delivery was a setup, as the resident at the address had not placed the order. This incident is part of a troubling trend of similar robberies in the area, emphasizing the need for personal protection.
“The need for self-defense in situations like this reinforces the philosophy of carrying for personal safety,” said Lt. Andrew Snyder of Cheltenham Township Police.
Hargrove is now facing multiple charges, including robbery and firearms violations. He is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail.
The police urge anyone with information about similar incidents or the second suspect involved to come forward by contacting Cheltenham Police at 215-885-1600 or emailing [email protected].
This violent altercation highlights the importance of being armed and dangerous at all times and the right to self-defense, as the DoorDash driver’s preparedness potentially saved his life during a dangerous confrontation.
I would challenge the assessment that the lack of injury to the perp is “fortunate”. Au contraire…. until thee dirtbags sart suffering SERIOUS conseuqences (as opposed to the current hand-slap routines in most places) they will continue to play the odds which are so much in their favour. SHen nearly every perp finds himself with exra holes, a more accurate assessment might follow.. and a decision o make some changes relating tto how they spend their time, and how hey “earn” their living.
13% of the population, and if you divide that in 1/2 for the males, commit over 60% of all violent crimes. We don’t have a gun problem, we have another problem. But stop noticing goyim… dats rayciss.
Hee a gud boi… he dindunuffins.
I am tired to the max of my 2d Amendment rights being continually put at risk because of the overwhelming number of gun crimes committed by teen-age Black thu
gs, born to an illiterate, teen aged baby mama on welfare (my tax money) and allowed to roam the streets, murdering and robbing at will. More use of deadly force by innocent victims of ALL races and long and inescapable prison sentences for all who illegally own and misuse firearms would go a long way to discourage these feral animals from entering lives of crime..America doesn’t have a gun violence problem. America has a 3Iack violence problem.
The driver could have used some extra range time.
