I tried to find the U.S. Gov. cost for a new M2A1 and neither bing (with and without AI) nor duckduckgo gave me an answer. But the full auto version should be less expensive to make so remove the legal restriction on the real deal and I’ll drop $17k to $18k for a new one in a heartbeat.
That’s why we will never see the Hughes Amendment repealed — because so many of the deep pocket donors supporting 2A own “transferable” machine guns — repealing the Hughes Amendment would be like the stock market crash for them. They’d lose hundreds of thousands overnight. I don’t have easy access any more but if you want to find the cost for the M2A1, start by finding the National Stock Number, then try looking up the NSN. Thanks for the tip. No luck finding a price on 1005-01-695-0586. One government page says that none have been purchased in the last 5 years and that the supplier was Ohio Ordnance Works. 1005-01-695-0586 is a Caliber .50 Machine Gun that does not have a nuclear hardened feature or any other critical feature such as tolerance, fit restriction or application. Demilitarization of this item has been confirmed and is not currently subject to changes.
