Mine dates back to the 1980s and it doesn’t skip a beat. I’ve loaded literally thousands of rounds on that thing. I’ve also got one of the old Piggyback conversion units turning it into a progressive press.
I bought my first press which was an RCBS as a kit back in 1983. It included a powder drop and a balance beam scale all metal. I never heard of doing a piggyback? I still use it for loading hunting rounds but for plinking and burnemup 5.56 it’s Dillon time, Oorah!!!.
have a pee green rockchucker from 69, date is cast in the side , I also have lee hand loaders too but the dillon progressive and a c press for 50 bmg and bigger
50 BMG!!!!!!
for shooting out past a mile that is what is needed and hand loads are the way to go for repeatability
Well I am not jealous but I sure would like to be able to pull the trigger on something like that. The only thing is, where the hell do you shoot it?
central florida has a 2 mile range
That should be mandatory for every state in the North, Mid and South of the state.
I do agree ,cmp should have at least 10 2mile ranges evenly distributed across the country
it is about 15 miles from me so go for the day take three or four guns and get in the zone and ring the steal
and yes lake city m33 is cheaper but it is not as reliable as hand loads ,everything is weighed and concentricity is checked polished seated same crimp almost spend more time loading than at the range
I can see that easily. It takes time to trim every case, weigh case and projectile and then group it all in matches then take time to put in primers, exact load of powder and exact seating depth.
Ya I can shootem up faster than I can load them but with rounds like that, 100 is a year of fun and takes so much work that when you know you are going to be punching the same hole time after time, it seems like a waste to shoot them all up in one day.
5.56, different story.
it has a feel ..like no other my “cheep” rounds are 3006, and 308 I have a 556 and several 22s but they are for varmint control rats and iguanas
