Opinion
“40% of homicides go unsolved. It’s not a good record.
95% of ‘convictions’ come from plea bargaining, which is often coerced.
It’s as if we have the worst of both worlds:
We don’t convict the guilty enough, and we coerce the innocent too much!” ~ Bill Maher.
Knife Attacks!
Last Saturday, a uniformed and armed Santa Monica, CA, police officer was attacked and stabbed, all suddenly and unprovoked, just outside his department’s headquarters.
The single perpetrator used a knife he had just stolen from a local Target Store.
The officer, though seriously injured, still drew his pistol and immediately shot the perpetrator to death.
The officer’s injuries are grievous but not life-threatening.
Yesterday, a single terrorist in Hadera (Israel) precipitously attacked and stabbed six innocent people in four different locations before he himself was shot to death by an armed citizen.
Three of the stabbing victims are still hospitalized and in serious condition. The other three were treated and released from the same hospital.
This is just the most recent of a number of terror/stabbing attacks upon civilians in Israel.
My comment:
Like it or not, the sage (LEOs and all others) need to be constantly in “Condition Yellow.” Many scoff at the idea of “sudden and unprovoked” personal attacks, where an attacker(s) “jump out of the bushes” without warning.
However, in our “Age of Terrorism,” it seems we’re entering a new phase of criminal behavior.
For one, I’m convinced contributing to this open and blatant criminality are:
- Our “No Consequences” criminal/justice system.
- Emptying of insane asylums and prisons.
- Our non-existent “borders”.
- A de-emphasis (at all levels) on “good citizenship”.
None of the foregoing will improve any time soon.
The same violent criminals who attack police officers also attack citizens, and citizens need to be able to repel, with lethal force, such attacks in the same way police do!
And, as we see in both examples above, many of today’s homicidal maniacs are also suicidal and thus fully expect to be killed and don’t care. Accordingly, many are not dissuaded by a “show of force” and will relentlessly press the attack until physically stopped.
“Through readiness and discipline, we are the masters of our fate.” ~ Bill Paxton.

true so i think we should do away with the entire judicial system and go straight to anarchy. just think of the extra money that could be used to pay the illegal aliens
Speaking of asylums this rants shows a need for a 5150
i prefer to call it situational awareness instead of condition yellow. situational awareness should always be on and engaged no matter where you are. the ones who tune everything out when outdoors stand a much greater chance of becoming a victim. keep you phone in your pocket, pay attention, use shiny surfaces such as store windows and cars as mirrors. be ye prepared.

Nice article John. My only question is why did the cops haul their fellow officer to the hospital instead of waiting for the ambulance like they do for the general public? Smells like preferential treatment to me.
Not new. Recall the “knockout game” of a few years ago? The sucker punch was fatal to several people, others suffered life long injury. Some perps had consequences, most faded into the background. Then, there were the ice-cream lickers who popped the lids, spit and replaced the lids. It was disgusting, likely spread disease, but it just in grocery store products. No big deal. Not much accountability there either.
Social media and ‘entertainment’ (movies, etc.) spread a lot of good (BAD) ideas. Censorship vs ‘free speech’ is great to debate, but there are real costs to both.
