Top 5 Guns to Consider Before the Election ~ VIDEO by Iraqveteran8888

As we careen the 2024 election, we will soon know if we can begin to afford groceries again or need to prepare for WW3.

As always, that means discussions around gun ownership and Second Amendment rights are heating up again. Eric from Iraqveteran8888 recently shared his top five recommended firearms to consider purchasing before the election, and in this companion article, we’ll explore his insights further, keeping things straightforward for anyone interested in securing these vital tools for self-defense and preparedness.

Why Buy Before the Election?

Consider adding to your collection before the election—political shifts often come with regulatory changes. Candidates like Kamala Harris have made their anti-gun stance clear, and a potential win could mean reshaping the courts, new laws that restrict gun purchases, or outright confiscation. That’s why having the right firearms, both for personal defense and fighting government, is more crucial than ever.

Let’s break down Eric’s list and why each of these firearms could be a smart choice before the 2024 election.

Ruger 10/22 Charger Pistol

The Ruger 10/22 is a versatile, semi-automatic firearm chambered in .22 LR. What makes this gun a must-have is its adaptability, affordability, and usefulness in both defense and survival scenarios. The compact size of the Charger Pistol version, especially with a folding brace, allows it to be easily stored or transported. If you’re tight on funds, the basic Ruger 10/22 pistol version is budget-friendly at around $300, with options to upgrade based on your preferences. Light recoil, ease of use, and the ability to suppress it make it an excellent choice for anyone.

For those looking to prioritize a smaller, manageable, and economical firearm that doesn’t sacrifice utility, the Ruger 10/22 should be on your radar.

AR-15 (Daniel Defense Mk18 Rifle)

Daniel Defense MK18 Rifle

It’s no surprise that the AR-15 rifle is on this list, and Eric’s pick, the Daniel Defense MK18 Carbine, represents one of the finest options available. The AR-15 has become an iconic firearm in the U.S., and with good reason. The Daniel Defense version comes equipped with a 10.3″ barrel, making it compact enough for home defense while still providing enough firepower for mid-range engagements. Its flexibility, ease of customization, and capability in personal defense make it a necessity for any well-rounded collection.

If you don’t own an AR-15 yet, now is the time to get one, regardless of brand. From Palmetto State Armory to Daniel Defense, the market offers a wide range of choices to fit your budget.

Glock 19X 9mm Handgun

Glock 19X FDE Pistol
Glock 19X FDE Pistol

In the world of handguns, the Glock 19X Handgun stands out as a tried-and-true option. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a beginner, this full-size pistol is known for its reliability, accuracy, and capacity. With a marksman’s barrel and factory night sights, the Glock 19X can handle almost any situation you throw at it.

Eric emphasizes the importance of having a quality, full-size pistol, and while the Glock is his favorite, the key takeaway is to own an autoloading pistol. Whether you choose Glock, Smith & Wesson, or CZ, having a dependable pistol in your collection is essential.

Bolt-Action .308 Rifle

Winchester XPR .308 Bolt Action Rifle w/ Vortex Crossfire 3-9×40 Scope

A .308 bolt-action rifle is your go-to for hunting or long-range defense. Eric showcases his vintage Remington Model 600 Mohawk, but any reliable bolt-action rifle chambered in .308 [our pick: Winchester XPR .308 Bolt Action Rifle w/ Vortex Crossfire 3-9×40 Scope] will do the job. These rifles excel at taking down larger game, making them a great choice for those who might want to hunt for food in a survival situation. They’re also excellent for longer-range shooting, providing accuracy and power that can’t be matched by an AR-15 or similar platforms.

For those on a budget, bolt-action rifles are relatively affordable, especially if you find one at a pawn shop. Be sure to zero it, practice, and get comfortable with it—this is the gun you’ll rely on for precision and power when needed.

Mossberg 500 Mariner 12 Gauge Shotgun

Pump-action shotguns are versatile, durable, and reliable. The Mossberg 500 Mariner, with its corrosion-resistant finish, makes it an ideal shotgun for those in coastal or humid environments. Whether you’re using it for home defense or hunting, a 12-gauge shotgun provides you with immense stopping power and versatility.

Eric notes that while shotguns like the Benelli M4 are excellent, they can be expensive, and the Mossberg 500 shotguns provides a more affordable option without sacrificing reliability.

Bonus: CZ Scorpion Micro Evo Pistol

CZ Scorpion Micro Evo Pistol
CZ Scorpion Micro Evo Pistol

While not essential, the CZ Scorpion Micro Evo is a fun addition to any collection. This pistol-caliber carbine offers a compact design, low recoil, and the ability to shoot 9mm, which makes it a great option for home defense with reduced risk of over-penetration. It’s more of a luxury pick, but if you’ve already covered the basics and have some extra cash, the Scorpion is a fantastic choice.

Locked & Loaded

When deciding what firearms to purchase before the 2024 election, it’s important to prioritize versatility, reliability, and affordability. Eric’s list focuses on these qualities, ensuring you’re prepared for whatever political or societal changes may come.

Start with the essentials—an AR-15, a full-size pistol like the Glock 19X, and a reliable shotgun like the Mossberg 500. From there, round out your collection with something for hunting, such as a .308 bolt-action rifle, and if the budget allows, consider adding a 10/22 or even a CZ Scorpion for added versatility.

Remember, the key is to be prepared and thoughtful about what you add to your collection. Let’s stay ready to defend our rights, no matter what happens after the 2024 election.

The Basic Ideas here are Sound,There really isnt much left to do now except wait and see what the Demonrats will do On Nov 5 and between then and Jan 20.
EITHER WAY,
Being ready for what comes after that is the only priority.
As for a Harris Presidency?

Augusto Pinochet

Hard agree. After the 2020 Summer of Riot, I believe that Real Americans looked at the Left and quietly decided in their own minds that if rampaging communists come through their neighborhood intent on killing, looting or arson; like what happened to the McCloskeys, they’d just start plugging away.
If Civil War 2 commences, all bets are off and I’ll be starting up the rotors!

Roland T. Gunner

Now that Pinochet, HE was a benevolent dictator.

Henry Bowman

I don’t even think the dictator label really fits, TBH. There was still a court system and he didn’t “rule” alone. This was a military junta who simply chose Pinochet as the best leader from among the top service heads (Army, Navy, Air Force, etc. Also, since when does a dictator voluntarily step down after reinstating elections?!? Just my $.02

swmft

that phrase was coined when a loaf of bread could be bought with those 2 cents so more like your 5 spot

I’ll be surprised if this election actually happens. I’m willing to wager if things are looking too bad for the demoncrats, they will enact marshall law. That gives them the ability to pause the election, possibly empower national guard to lock down the populace, do Harris’s favorite idea of gun confiscation.

Wild Bill

I have been on a “Getting Ready” program for about 12 years. Step 1 Move out of the city, town, or village where your house is undefendable.
If you are prepared and have something, and you neighbors have nothing, then they are going to want you to share. Then they will want to force you to share. Then they will come for whatever you have.

Roland T. Gunner

Me neighbors have food supplies, I have machineguns; I will not go hungry.

Wild Bill

As long as everybody has something to contribute, your group will be strong.

Courageous Lion - Hear Me Roar - Jus Meum Tuebor

I didn’t read “group” in his response. I read that his neighbors have food and he will steal it with his machine guns to feed his sorry ass. Am I MISSING something from that statement? This site sure has it’s share of morons that visit it.

That’s how I understood his comment. Pretty damned flippant.

Wild Bill

I agree and you are wise to recognize that it is merely a flippant comment and not something that is really intelligent to do.

swmft

a well placed 22 to bounce in that empty head
most people cant control a machine gun unless it is mounted a few people with small armes to distract and one that can shoot to jfk him

Wild Bill

I did not see your response until just now. Yes, I meant to give his comment a more positive spin. I hope that he will come to see his neighbors as more than someone to steal from in an emergency. Banding together has more value.

Wild Bill

It appears that you need to get into the urinal stall because everyone says “Piss on you.”

could be related to camel toe hairy ass

Wild Bill

Yes, they were programmed by the same school system.

Courageous Lion - Hear Me Roar - Jus Meum Tuebor

Great answer. Why don’t YOU have food supplies?

Easier to poach off his neighbors?

Wild Bill

Perhaps easier the first time, after that the poacher is the outlaw.

Wild Bill

He spent it all on the machine gun.

Ledesma

The AR-15 is the most popular weapon on earth. But if the order comes, the only wonder is how many will give them up?

Finnky

I’d be surprised if a million were surrendered. With luck it would be like NJ’s magazine ban in which ZERO were turned in to police.

Of course proper course of action would be direct response to each legislator or member of the administration who contributed to the process.

Hang on tight, the ride is gonna get bumpy!

Anytime someone says “riot gun”, I instantly think of a 10ga. shotty, like this Remington SP10 10 Gauge Magnum Semi-Auto:

major crowd control

Roland T. Gunner

I think Ithaca Auto & Burglar.

Wild Bill

Now that is intriging! What Remmy action is on that? What years were they made? Any known defects in that design?

Henry Bowman

This is something I only heard about, because I’ve been thinking of 10ga for a while… Never had the opportunity to actually hold one. This is very uncommon but probably not rare. But it was designed for riot control & other police purposes. More homework is needed.

Courageous Lion - Hear Me Roar - Jus Meum Tuebor

I think the Turkish made Armelegant ANG4 3″ magnum 12 gauge with 20 round drum should be a crowd pleaser.

Darkman

You only need so many firearms. The one thing you can never have to much of is ammo. Unless you are drowning or on fire and by then you are already… fkd.

What gun should i take to a riot?

Hmm…..

Firstly, a quote from Mr. Miagi of “Karate Kid” fame, “Best defense against punch, don’t be there!” comes to mind.

But flipping the question around “What gun would be handy if a riot comes to you?” That one was answered long ago. A riot gun.

Niiiiiiiice!!

That one has a problem. Not really a manufacturing defect so much as a defective manufacturer.

See right there where it says Smith & Wesson? Yeah. that!

While they were courting Billy they were ramping up the production of the MP15 so they could keep thier share holders happy . Don’t be fooled by this the rhetoric in that printed deal as they really are all about selling MP15s to the masses to make record profits .

I’ve had mine for almost 2 years (already had the barrel replaced)
I’ve put at least 4000 rounds, of all kinds, 3″, 2-3/4,2″, Minis, factory and reloads, thru this thing.
No FTF, no FTE, no Misfires, no Failures of ANY Kind.
One Pump, One Click, One BOOM, Every time.
I have “all the above+” as far as ‘What to have for the coming shtf”, but when I need a BULLDOZER,

So this guy is the expert? I’d rather buy four Anderson’s for what one Daniel Defense costs so that I could arm three of my neighbors. And he managed to leave off my favorite that I bought one of just for these situations.

Deplorable Bill

A good, reliable, powerful, high capacity pistol, a good 22l.r. rifle, a hunting shotgun, a 556 cal. semi auto rifle and a long range rifle. More importantly than types of good firearms is the willingness to use them. When Trump is president again the left will use any excuse to riot, loot, pillage and worse —- just like they did in 2020. Assuming that you can actually hit what you aim at when under stress, I prefer 45 Autos in double stack when available. There was good reason the U.S. military chose 45 acp over everything else, it works. A… Read more »

I agree with most of what you say. Though, I think the Mini 14 was obsolete even when it was introduced. They just aren’t accurate or reliable when compared to even a mediocre AR15 with mediocre sight/scope and mediocre ammo.

Then there’s the popularity issue. AR15 parts, all over. Likewise for magazines and other equipment. AR15’s are easy to accessorize. The Mini 14 loses on all those counts.

Nick

I had a Winchester XPR in 6.5 creedmoor. It was lousy. The detachable magazine is 3 rounds, and it isn’t even flush fit, makes it tough to carry one handed.
The bolt was a little sloppy, and did bind, despite it’s “special coating” which was supposed to make it smooth. The synthetic stock was very loud, much louder than most synthetics these days, especially the butt when bumped or rubbed against brush.
I traded it away.
The idea of a .308 bolt action is of course great, I just think the XPR is the wrong one.
