Springfield Armory® is proud to announce the release of the XD® Mod.3 OSP™ 9mm pistol. Based on the platform that set the standard for feature-rich striker-fired handguns, the new XD Mod.3 OSP offers enhancements and upgrades designed to take the proven design to the next level — and all at an MSRP of just $325.

The hammer-forged, Melonite®-finished slide of the pistol features a factory-milled OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) cut designed to accept a wide variety of popular red dot optics. OSP plates, available for purchase from the Springfield Armory Store, allow for easy customization to fit RMR®, DeltaPoint® Pro and Docter® footprints.

In addition, the slide features a set of rugged steel sights with a high-visibility red fiber optic front sight paired with a white dot rear sight. Enhanced slide serrations both fore and aft offer improved grip in adverse conditions, while a flared cut at the rear provides additional purchase for easy manipulation.

In addition to a visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator located atop the slide, a striker-status indicator on the slide’s rear face adds an additional layer of security. Housed within the slide is a 4” hammer-forged Melonite® finish barrel.

The frame of the XD Mod.3 features aggressive texturing strategically placed on the most important contact points. An undercut triggerguard and extended beavertail allow for a high-hand position for superior control, working in concert with the texturing to ensure superior control.

The pistol’s passive grip safety features a raised “memory bump” for consistent and reliable engagement, and a flat-faced trigger delivers improved feel and performance. An accessory rail on the dustcover allows the user to fit a wide range of accessories, and the pistol ships with a 16-round stainless steel magazine. A 10-round version for restricted locales is also offered.

“The new XD Mod.3 offers shooters a modern and enhanced take on this proven 9mm pistol platform,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With optics capability, improved ergonomics and a very impressive price point, this 9mm deserves a very close look.”

I don’t see anything new or remarkable here, just another striker fired polymer pistol.

Wife and I love our XDM 40s compact and Hellcats sub compact. No FTF with all kinds of ammo including my reloads. I use H-6 185 gr xtp in the 40s and h-6 with 124 xtp in the Hellcats. They work great with the 6 different powders I have used and with no problem either and accuracy is not a problem.

I don’t see anything special here. But I like Glocks. I suppose Springfield guys will get excited though.
But I’m guessing most of these new striker fired pistols(regardless of brand) will be bought by repeat buyers of that particular brand, and not new customers, much like new vehicles are most often bought by people who already own a model from that brand.
