I wonder if the foregoing will be the glaring epitaph on the grave of Western Civilization!
High-speed vehicle-ramming attacks are a common tactic of Islamic terrorists in Western Europe. Less common here, until yesterday! Vehicular barriers (called “bollards”) on Bourbon St in New Orleans had been scheduled to be deployed, but were not, at the time of the truck-ramming attack. During a subsequent press conference, the excuse-making governor of LA naively doubts that bollards would have made any difference “because this attack was evil.” Officials at all levels are predictably downplaying the role of, even the existence of, radical/murderous Islamics.
Compare the foregoing with the calamitous 2005 flooding of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina:
Piecemeal funding of levee construction, combined with the fact that “environmental concerns” at all times trumped public safety, created a flood-control system “in name only.” A “National Flood Insurance Program” supported the false narrative that citizens were somehow physically protected during ruinous flooding.
I suggest that politics and politicians who naively support/promote Marxism will be consistently surprised, overwhelmed, and unprepared when calamity (natural or manufactured) strikes, as we see!
With leftists, public safety ever enjoys the lowest rung on their “ladder of priorities!”
We see that reflected in their constant promotion of the de-funding of our local police departments!

Yes, the attack was Evil. So was the willful incompetence and failures of government.
I don’t agree with either ‘willful’ or ‘incompetence’. The problem is larger and outside of the experience of the LEOs or New Orleans City planners. Had the Las Vegas car bomb worked as the solo terrorist intended, would we argue willful ncompetence was at fault? Maybe way back in the event chain, but not on site.
The guy was a Green Beret. He knew how to build a VBIED and rig it for maximum damage/lethality. But the truck only had incendiaries & fireworks. No broken glass or other damage to the building besides burn marks & soot. This was intended to get people’s attention; in that, the device did its’ job.
In New Orleans, incompetence wasn’t the failure point. Every large city’s police have CT and SWAT teams, but they weren’t deployed and the bollards were left down INTENTIONALLY. That’s malice.
You’re right, willful malice in a city that definitely knows better. “Let The Good Times Roll!” mentality is at play, plus an incompetent new hire police chief and a wicked mayor is a witches brew far worse than anything being peddled in a French Quarter Santeria/Voodoo shop.

The quote at the beginning of this article came from the mouth of the NOLA Chief of Police, an amazingly stupid woman who should never have been put in charge of anything. This is the one who signed off on disassembling the bollards to repair them for the Super Bowl.

Plans don’t accomplish anything except planning. CARRYING OUT plans might help. Maintain nd improve levees, put out your bollards, and reduce the number of circulating muslim radicals.
A failed plan at best and now you people should all resign and let someone who have a clue about securing large events take over to protect the innocent people who are at these events to enjoy life . I think we should be the first line of defense because if a cop is not there at the scene, he will be late to the party! Besides, sometimes they could use the extra help.
Didn’t the terrorist in Louisiana drive through cop barricades when he did it? Weren’t there cops stationed right there as it should be?

I saw that yesterday while the old lady that was fired from kommiefornia for doing the same job she is doing now in Louisiana was talking making excuses for why they did what the did. She had another form of blockade she could have used and didn’t even know it existed. I have read in other articles that there was a hydraulic gate that was left open that would have prevented this.
I heard something of that nature in the beginning but then it changed to he drove around the barricade and drove on the sidewalk.
Why is it that the leaders always seem to be confused or not knowledgeable about what their people are doing that they are responsible for.
Hydraulic bollards – steel posts that extend up from the ground by hydraulic pressure. Part or all of the system was apparently removed/deactivated for maintenance to make sure they were in good working condition for the SuperBowl. A cop car was parked in the street but the driver had plenty of room to drive around the car.
