Allentown, PA -(AmmoLand.com)- Camp Compass (www.CampCompass.org), an Allentown, PA non-profit mentoring program, along with its sister fundraising program, Two Million Bullets (www.TwoMillionBullets.org), recently were showcased in an October 30th, Forbes.com article, The NRA is not Demographically Challenged, authored by acclaimed conservative writer, Frank Miniter.

Miniter’s article, a well-reasoned, solid response to Winkler’s insensitive anti-gun, anti-NRA, Swiss-cheese-clad argument, The NRA Will Fall It’s inevitable, as published on October 19th, by The Washington Post. In his Forbes.com article, Miniter fires back at Winkler with hard-hitting, undebatable support, most notably from many interviews with minority citizens for his book, The Future of the Gun.

One such interview with “Mike K,” a hardworking gentleman hailing from Allentown’s inner city, provided Miniter with life changing, pro-gun, pro mentorship insight.

“We met in the upstairs of Joe Mascari’s Carpets & Rugs, as Mascari has given the top floor of his store to an after-school program called Camp Compass Academy that’s run by an elementary school teacher named John Anonni. Camp Compass teaches proper gun use and safety to mostly minority inner-city kids.” (Read more…)

During Miniter’s interview, Mike K suggests:

“You know, I’d be dead or locked up if John didn’t teach me to handle a gun… People blame guns for all that bad stuff out there. I tell ’em it’s not guns. I tell them how John used guns to save my life… The only way to save people like me is with good examples and by not lying to them about guns… I tell them how John used guns to save my life… He teaches me responsibility. He shows me how a real man handles a gun. He trusted me. No one ever did that. I didn’t want to let him down.”(Read more…)

“We love Mike K here and are truly appreciative of the attention Frank Miniter has given our program but there is still a lot of work to do. I don’t think we will ever run out of work or young people to mentor. We’re trying to save lives here,” says Annoni. “We need more than people to read and give us a mental pat on the back. We need them to get involved. We need outdoor industry partners and outdoor enthusiasts alike to put words into action here.”
