IMR Legendary Powders Releases New IMR Family of Powders

USA -(Ammoland.com)- We believe it takes a Legendary Powder brand like IMR to improve this series of legendary powders.

This series of five popular burn-rate powders covers an extremely wide range of shotshell and pistol cartridges, utilizing new, green technology.

Each powder was designed to match current shotshell bushing charts, so the handloader will already have the appropriate bushings available for each load.

This new technology burns clean, providing accurate metering and top performance characteristics.

All of these powders are REACH compliant, meaning these propellants are not harmful to the environment.

All new IMR Powders

IMR Target:

The first powder in this new family is a fast-burning pistol powder.  This fine-grained, small-flake pistol powder meters superbly, providing very precise loads in even the smallest pistol cartridges like the .25 ACP!

IMR Red:

The second powder in this new family was designed to be an efficient, clean-burning, 12-gauge target powder. IMR Red also performs nicely in various lead pistol target loads, such as match competition loads and Cowboy reduced loads.

IMR Green:

The third in this new family is slightly slower-burning than IMR Red, making it an ideal Trap Handicap powder and soon a favorite with Sporting Clays enthusiasts.

IMR Unequal:

IMR Unequal combines small-sized flakes for uniform metering in all pistol applications and its burn speed accommodates a wide range of shotshell and pistol cartridges.

IMR Blue:

The slowest burn speed of the five new propellants, IMR BLUE, has excellent application for heavy 12-gauge 2-¾-inch, 3-inch and 3-1/2-inch field loads.

These new powders will be available in January 2017 at quality reloading powder dealers everywhere.

IMR Target and IMR Blue will be available in one-pound (1lb), four-pound (4lb) and eight-pound (8lb) containers and IMR Red, IMR Green and IMR Unequal in 14-ounce (14 oz), four-pound (4lb) and eight-pound (8lb) containers.

Complete load data for these versatile and useful propellants is accessible on the Hodgdon Reloading Data Center at www.HodgdonReloading.com.

does the power IMR target replace IMR sr 4759 for reduced loads

Raymond Miller

It pays to purchase a new reloading manual every few years. I purchase a new one every 2-3 years. I am partial to the Lyman manual but do buy others so I have a cross reference. Lyman gives you the most accurate load for each caliber and bullet and it is most often very good, you only have to adjust a little + or – to work best in your particular firearm.

Does the IMR BLUE and BLUE DOT use the same reload data?

Tom Barber

What ever happen to IMR-PB, ? Any info on the New Powder ?

Smedley Hverovhe

While Hodgdon were busy cloning Alliant products, I have to wonder why they skipped 2400.

CXM

I think the new powders are intended to ultimately replace some of the old stand by powders such as Bulls-Eye; Unique etc.

I suspect the reason for this is production costs and toxic waist volume from the production process. Most changes are the result of cost considerations.

Replacing powders that have endured in the market for over 100 years isn’t going ot be easy… they have survived because of their performance.

Please send me complete reloader data 5 New family IMR smokeless powders.

Is there any load data for 3″ 12 gauge 1 7/8 oz using IMR Blue. ?

Raymond Miller

I would look on line, as the person above suggests. As far as I know the data is all free and easy to access. I have looked up data on Hodgden powders so I have to believe IMR is also there. Lyman reloading manual would have it if you know someone who has one.

Edward Czepczynski

Do you have any loading data available for the new powders? I’m interested in the Target, Red, and Yellow.

Raymond Miller

Have you looked on line ? Most if not all powder Cos. have reloading info on their web sites ?

Wiljen

So they drop SR 7625 which was a single based unique only to release unequal. Must be a marketing thing because it sure makes no sense from a manufacturing standpoint.

Alan

Anything new re IMR Rifle Powder??

Jim w

Agreed. I bet the bushing charts match up with Bullseye, Unique, Red, Green, and Blue Dot.
Reminds one of Clay Dot in the other direction.

Raymond Miller

I think that they should have given them different names, as some people may mistake the new ones for the old Red, Blue, Unique etc. Unless the loads are the same it could cause problems for some hand loaders.

Sounds like a remarketing of Alliant powders.
