“Shangri-La?”
Democrat politicians are quick to insist that “ordinary citizens” don’t need “weapons of war” nor “high-capacity” magazines.
They love cynical sound-bites like, “No one needs ten bullets to kill a deer” (as if we were even talking about sport shooting).
Yet, at the same moment, leftists are mouthing such dishonest platitudes, they themselves are being protected by legions of tax-payer-funded bodyguards, all of whom are carrying “weapons of war” and “high-capacity magazines,” the exact same weapons these sleazy gas-bags simultaneously insist the rest of us don’t “need.”
To rationalize their nauseating hypocrisy, we’re told that modern VCAs [violent criminal actors] are “more sophisticated” and “better armed” than criminals of the past, and therefore, police (and political bodyguards) “need” modern weapons (“of war”), all of which are equipped with “high-capacity magazines.” So that they (police) are adequately equipped to face these dangerous and sophisticated felons.
They curiously make no suggestion with regard to what “ordinary” citizens are supposed to do when facing an identical threat!
Are we to believe that all these “more violent, better-armed criminals,” whom police have to deal with, somehow don’t prey on private citizens, too?
Why is it that politicians apparently “deserve” protection afforded by “weapons of war” and “high-capacity magazines,” but the rest of us don’t?
I think it is fair to assume that VCAs don’t abide by notions of “fairness” and “reasonableness!”
Politicians are right when they tell us that violent crime is on an exponential increase, and their response is to quickly and dramatically increase the level of protection …but only for themselves!
Yet, all this violent mayhem “trickles down” to private citizens, too, doesn’t it? Citizens who don’t enjoy continuous protection from dedicated and heavily armed bodyguards. It is fiction to suggest that any particular neighborhood or person is “special” and that “bad things” happen in other places and to other people.
This is the naive “Shangri-La Fantasy,” and it causes citizens to foolishly believe leftist rhetoric, the false narrative that dangerous trends will never impact “us” directly.
The sage doesn’t believe that rubbish for a moment and arm themselves appropriately!
“In an instant, it became clear to me that all the courage in the world could not withstand this firepower!” ~ A young Charles de Gaulle, in 1914.

When a politician/judge/law enforcement individual tell you don’t need a AR15 and standard capacity magazines, you really really do need them.
The explanation to the “controversy” is simple. “They have theirs, they don’t want you to have them.” It’s a privilege not for the you.
2A CLEARLY says that American citizens DO need to have “Weapons of War”. That’s EXACTLY why 2A was written. it doesn’t say, “citizens can have rabbit guns, skeet/trap guns, truck guns, or even guns for personal defense”. 2A concerns keeping the newly formed republic free from tyranny, and that’s exactly why the DNC, the DSA, the UN, Soros, Bloomberg, Clinton, and other power-hungry individuals and groups work to nullify it.
The USA WILL fall! Our time as a free republic is limited. It will NOT fall while I am alive.
1 When the Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment, they were not just returning from a hunting trip, they had just liberated a nation!
2 A 30rd AR magazine is a STANDARD magazine, NOT high capacity.
3 AR or A/R means Armalight Rifle, the creator of the original model of this style, NOT assault rifle.
4 ALL countries that have disarmed their citizens have turned on their citizens. That will NOT be happening in the United States. Or, rather, We, The People, will make it VERY difficult.
“…VCAs … are “more sophisticated” and “better armed” than criminals of the past…” Bonnie and Clyde knocked over a government armory and rocked a BAR. Can’t say many current gang-bangers are shooting up the town with full auto 30-06. The exuberant use of the Chicago Typewriter (Thompson sub-machine gun) and their abundance was the poster boy for the NFA. Most would agree that the Tommy Gun with a 50 round drum of .45ACP is better armament than a 9mm Glock with a switch. There were even a few full auto 1911s with extended magazines back in the day. The BAR… Read more »
DIY – good points but don’t forget that Clyde ‘illegally’ modified at least one BAR – he cut down the barrel and the butt stock in order to make it easier for him to manipulate. Golly, that almost sounds like criminals will do whatever they want to make things ‘better’ for them.
Yep, that’s a fact. I was trying to be brief. Some people think making more things illegal and illegal things more illegaler (sic) will reduce crime but even if it doesn’t they “have to do something”. Somehow the “something” does not involve prosecuting and adequately punishing the simple concepts of do not steal, injure or murder.
and that is why they want to delete history
It is interesting that the same people who claim they can’t find 12 million illegals think they can find 20+ million “assault” weapons, 71.2 million pistol magazines capable of holding more than 10 cartridges, and another 79.2 million rifle magazines capable of holding 30 or more rounds. These are figures from the NSSF as of 2016.
Those mag numbers are low by at least 5x, probably more like 10x or 20x.
A billion digitized firearm transactions are a de facto firearm/owner registry. There should not be any doubt that almost all who possess firearms are among the listed. Our bureaucrats know who has arms and where both are located.
If you own an AR(s) and have less than 20 standard capacity mags and 1000 rounds of ammo/per You need to be stocking up. 5000 would be better if your train regularly. As democrats continue to lose the fight against firearm ownership in the courts their next attacks will center specifically around ammo, magazines and other accoutrements like red dots, scopes, collapsible stocks. Which were all mentioned by the FBI director during his testimony at the resent Congressional hearing on the Trump assassination attempt.
you’re absolutely right John. these “terrible” instruments of war are every American’s birthright to secure the blessings of liberty and freedom.
We face the same criminals that the police face so we must have access to the same tools they have for self protection.
Or better.
JQ – and very few of us have a radio that we can use to call up a SWAT team for backup when the schumer hits the fan. But but but we can always call 9-1-1 on our cell phones, good luck with getting a timely response via that route. Something about seconds and minutes come to mind.
The same “weapons of war” or “assault weapons” that they would deny us, are called “Personal Defense Weapons” when .gov puts out order bid.
Well, my AR-15 is my Personal Defense Weapon.
On another thought, it is abhorrent for agents of the state to have firearms that the common people are denied. They are, after all, part of “the people” as well.
John, you are a Mensch.
Now if we hand in our guns to the government either piecemeal or all at once what will protect us from the government?
