Provo, Utah –-(Ammoland.com)- Action Target concluded its 22nd Law Enforcement Training Camp (LETC) on Friday. More than 120 law enforcement firearms instructors from locations all over the US as well as Canada, Australia and Brazil attended this year’s training held at the company’s headquarters in Provo, Utah.
The training camp, which first began in 1991, is taught by world-renowned trainers from organizations like Safariland Shooting School and Team Spartan Tactical Training and focuses on teaching advanced skills for law enforcement firearms instructors. Those instructors can then take those skills back to their individual departments and teach others.
“For more than 20 years, LETC has been a staple of the Action Target culture,” company co-founder Addison Sovine said. “Our mission has always been to provide the tools and training necessary to help law enforcement officers perform their duties to the best of their abilities and to get home safely every night. This training camp is the epitome of that mission.”
Attendees participate in four days of training with one 8-hour class per day.
This year’s classes included:
- High Speed Pistol and Knife
- Ultimate Shotgun
- Shoot, Move, Communicate
- Practical Shooting While Moving
- Developing Reflexive Shooting Skills
- Rapid Deployment Rifle
- Training for the Fight with the Pistol
- Shoothouse Orientation
- Law Enforcement Small Arms Combination
- Law Enforcement Precision Rifle
- Emergency Medical Response for Firearm Trainers
On the evening of the second day, LETC attendees had the opportunity to participate in the first annual Sgt. Cory Wride Memorial Match, a shooting competition held in honor of Sgt. Wride, a member of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office who was killed earlier this year during a traffic stop. The winner of the match received free tuition to next year’s training camp and also had his name placed on a plaque that will hang permanently in the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
During a banquet held on the evening of the third day, the plaque was presented to Sgt. Wride’s son who then presented it to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Next year’s Action Target Law Enforcement Training Camp will be held Sept. 7-11. More information about the training camp and registration can be found at ActionTarget.com/LETC.
