Ramseur, NC – -(Ammoland.com)- When Isaac Davis picked up his musket and stepped into the cold morning air on April 19, 1775 to lead the Acton Minutemen to Concord, he had but one short, final offering to make to his wife Hannah.
“Take good care of the children.”
Within hours, Captain Davis was struck down by a musket ball fired by a British Regular as he led his men on a march to Concord’s North Bridge. He was the first American officer to die in combat, and to this day his image is remembered in the seal of the Army and Air National Guard.
More than 14,000 militiamen answered the call of Paul Revere and other dispatch riders that April morning, valuing their natural rights and liberty as sacrosanct, even as they faced the most powerful military in the world of their time. Because of their principled courage, and unwillingness to bow down to a corrupt and distant king, we won the first battles of what would become our War of Independence.
Because of this founding generation that answered the call that April morning, we have the United States of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
To honor that birthright of a nation, the Revolutionary War Veterans Association would like for April to be recognized every year as “Patriots Month,” with the history of the liberty our forefathers wrested for us through blood and sweat and desperation shared and remembered by a grateful nation.
To do our part to celebrate that heritage, the RWVA’s Appleseed Project will be holding special events across the nation the weekend of April 20-21, 2013, celebrating the moment where marksmanship met history, and heritage began, as well as LibertySeed events to spread knowledge, appreciation, and remembrance of the achievements of the Founders.
Appleseed Pre-registration cost: $80 per weekend, $40 for women. One day events and other special events may differ.
Reduced rates are offered for those under 18, Active Duty Military, Law Enforcement Officers, Elected Officials, and Revolutionary War Re-enactors. All prices subject to change! Further information, including directions, start times and what to bring can be found on the website: www.appleseedinfo.org. Rifles and ammunition are not supplied.
In addition to the two-day special Appleseed Rifle Clinics on the anniversary weekend, RWVA instructors are available to present the history of Lexington and Concord in two-hour presentations called Libertyseeds to Scout troops, PTAs, schools, book clubs and other civic groups. Instructors tell the story of the most important date in the history of our Republic.
Further information can be found on the web site: www.libertyseed.org.
Appleseed and Libertyseed are projects of the Revolutionary War Veterans Association (RWVA), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization associated with the Congressionally chartered Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Founded in 2006, RWVA is a 100% volunteer organization committed to bringing the very best of traditional rifle marksmanship skills and the story of April 19th, 1775, to each and every American. To that end, they are conducting Appleseed events across the country on April 20-21, with an estimated 15,000 students this year alone. Appleseed Rifle Clinics are conducted in all 50 states throughout the year.
It is important to understand that a Patriot honors the country the people and the precepts the country was built on. Not the Government. Specifically not an illegal government committing illegals acts for an illegal Elite and lying about it by saying it is all a subject of National Security. The “DES” “Department of Elite Security” improperly named as the DHS operates the TSA, an organization who in it’s 4 years of operation has not caught a single “terrorist” yet by their own hands have terrorized countless people as well as violate Constitutional rights and exposed them to toxic levels… Read more »
Until 9-11-01 April 19th was know as “Patriots Day.” Then the vile politicians decided to name 9-11 as “Patriot Day.” Most are nothing more than filthy traitors! Anything they can do denigrate our history of armed resistance to tyranny, they will do.
Nancy, you obviously misunderstood my attempt at humor.
Brian, I think it’s rather obvious that the RWVA is an organization similar to the DAR.
Thanks to both of you for the laughs.
fly, I am actually a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. We are all grandsons in a direct blood line of Revolutionary War Veterans. And we have documented it. Just as the ladies of the DAR are all grand daughters of those Vets. There is no fraud going on with the DAR or SAR and this Rev. War Vets. Assoc. is most likely just poorly named.
Nancy, get over yourself.
Brian & Fly, yeah, you two are friggen genuinenesses, LOL
That’s what I was thinking, Brian.
There’s also an association called Daughters of the American Revolution. Certainly all daughters of the men who fought the British have long since passed.
These posers need to be called out and made to answer for the fraud they are perpetuating upon today’s Americans — the ones who aren’t as smart as you and me.
Because the spirit of our founders lives on and we honor their sacrifices by remembering and telling their story.
How is it a Revolutionary War Veterans Assoc. if all the Veterans of that war are dead?
